I figured I had better start this thread so I don't forget and dq'd lol. Not sure where the build is headed yet, but maybe I'll know in a few days. Anyways here's a pic of the kit as I received it yesterday afternoon. Untitled by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr Thanks for looking. And if anyone has a suggestion on a build direction let me know lol.

Thanks Mike and Paul, I cleared the work table (well as clean as it ever gets lol) and stared opening some bags to see what I was working with. Its a nicely detailed kit but flash out the waazoo. Untitled by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr Then I went digging for some tires and wheels. Not sure which to go with just yet. Untitled by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr Its really hard to photograph chrome lol.

Frank, that's what I'm leaning towards as well lol. Those tires are from the AMT '66 Riviera and are super tall, the cragars are from an AMT '39-40 Ford Tudor sedan.

'62 T-bird is a classic for sure. Great choice for this contest. If you want my opinion, which isn't really worth much, on tires and wheels I say definitely go with the Cragars, but I wouldn't do the wide whitewalls. Thin line whitewalls if you got them or just blackwall, but in my opinion wide whites only work on '59/'60 or older, unless you are going seventies era "Super Fly", now that could be cool. Again maybe you shouldn't listen to me.

Skip, you crack me up. I totally agree that pinner whites would look better, so I had very little time tonight and tried something.... Untitled by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr I don't know if I should go a little skinnier on the white walls or call that good. Then I was digging through my low rider parts box and found a landau top from the merc cougar kit. I cut a 1/4 inch out of the center and glued back together then set it on the car with the tires/wheels mocked up. Untitled by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr That's also the lowest I can go, but I want it lower lol. I'm not sure if I should shave the tops of the tires or go the proper route and extend the body down. I also really want some fender skirts and not sure why the kit doesn't come with any. Does anyone know if there is a bird kit like this that has skirts? Thanks for looking and keep the opinions coming!

I was thinking about a white wall maybe even half of what you mocked up on the front, but I have to say that one is looking good, I like that. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Baby steps right, lol. I got all the white walls painted up. Here's a couple pics, first one is comparing the painted ones to the stock WW and the second is them all done with the wheels in. Untitled by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr Untitled by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr Then I started assembling the motor and I lost the water pump to the vastness that is my hobby room floor lol. Untitled by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr I'm probably gonna buy another kit off eBay for the fender skirts and now the water pump. That's all for tonight. Thanks for looking and thanks for all the advice so far guys!
