My name is Charlie and after a long absence I am back to building models once again. WOW, has everything changed. Most hobby stores are now gone and the prices of stuff has gone up alot! A true and kind of funny story is my first model build was in 1968. I built a crude 66 Mustang kit which had a body that was in three pieces and had to be glued together. Cost $99 cents back in the day. I wanted it to be cool and chose silver to spray paint it. I did!! The body, interior, chassis, and engine. In addition the top of my dresser and wall behind the dresser. So much for my first build. That model as well as all the welts from my dads belt are long gone now. I built models through high school and a job, spouse, and kids took me away from the hobby. Also raising grandkids for awhile kept me out of the loop for even longer. Well, 30 plus years and I am once again thrashing on kits. I have a bunch of kits from recent to back in the day. Just about every one has been started to some degree, (sound familiar) and I am taking inventory and starting to finish them. I will post pictures as they are completed and will see if you guys like my builds. Just about everything I build is not out of the box stock. I interchange lots of parts and make cars that suit me. I am big on Pro Street and 60s period correct 'Mopar hot rods' Currently I am on the later stages of completeing a MPC 69 Cuda that has an AMT chassis and firewall/inner fender unit with relocated springs, traction bars, and a 426 Hemi. Its still got a ways to go but its the first of many Mopar models I will build. My top model is an FM3 Panther Pink 71 Duster 340. I think I will detail this one in every way possible in the build. The paint is flawless. I am a product of Skips in Maywood Illinois and cut my teeth on fast cars back in the late 60s with my older brothers. I have been a die hard Mopar guy since I bought my first car and have had many Mopars over the years. I currently own a restored 70 Dodge Dart Swinger. I want to find a quality 70 Swinger Resin kit so I can build my car as a long winter project. Anyhow, I have a bit more time on my hands and thanks to Iceman55 was turned on to this site so I hope to be here for quire awhile. By the way, The 'Santa Chas' thing is also real. I am a Real Bearded Santa as well. Im old, cant see as good as I used to, a little shaky in the hands but I still got some building time left in me. Thanks for taking the time to read this long intro!! Santa Chas.

Awesome intro, Chas. I think many of us have left and returned at some point or other. Build what you like! Would love to see some of your stuff. In the meantime let folks know what you think of their builds and get involved with some of the monthly contests if you can. Welcome!

Thanks Iceman, I wil get involved. Its all about the involvement to me. Im the same way with my car clubs, cruise nights, shows, and swap meets. Thanks Madhatter. My builds will pale in comparison to what I have seen here. My biggest problem now and also back in the day is I want the build to be perfect and have cashed in more than one model in my time because I did not like the job I did. Im taking a bit more time on this Cuda. I want to get it done. I have a Pro Street AMT 71 Duster, Pro Street MPC 69 Charger, Pro Street AMT 67 Mustang, Pro Street AMT 65 El Camino to work on coming up. They are mostly built but still need interiors, motors and some paint and detail. The hard part is over. Fitment issues,Chassis mating. radius shaping of the wheel wells is all done. I would post them but they look hideous in the state they are in. I will start posting as they get closer to being done. Thanks again for letting me on board. Santa Chas.

By all means, WELCOME! I hope you went to the DuPage model convention on the 23rd. Tho I'm skipping them since I lost the passion for building, I still occasionally go and the selection of kits and parts and cheap "glue bombs" is always pretty good and prices well below retail. Next show there is late Summer, and Countryside, Il. has 2 smaller ones a year, at least the last time I was there. Thanx for joining this forum, one of quite a few on the Web.
