Hey Chris if you have a craft store near you or automotive store they have paint pens which I've used to paint wire. Put your wires in place then paint them with small brush or pen applicator. When it's dried good put a little clear floor polish over the paint it will protect it somewhat.

That's what I tried was a Sharpie but I tried future not clearcoat. Its still been too cold to spray outside. The Sharpie ran right off in the future and what was left rubbed off with barely a touch

Acrylic paint might also work. The thing that I've noticed with painting wire is even if you get it to not rub off,I trends to crack off over time. Hobby lobby and Michael's carry jewelry wire in different colors that might work. Pretty. Heap too.

If painting standard wire. Before cutting try the steel wool trick. Take palin steel wool or a mild sand paper. wrap sand paper or steel wool. (Not the kind with soap in) around wire and pull through. It gives wire coating a rough surface for paint to stick to. Paint will not stick to a vinyl/ rubber surface without roughing up surface .

Iceman is correct on the phone wire...just know that it's just a tad bit out of scale(too big). if you'd like an example of how it looks, these plug wires are the yellow strand from phone wire
