Ok . You probably figured out what I will be doing for this one. I only build 1 nascar type. The King Richard Petty. Going to be cloning 1 of the dodge chargers he drove.

Thanks ak.. I was having second thoughts last night as the mehaim began. this is the worst kit I have seen for fit and the mold of the body. the body took alot of flat sanding. Rolls in plastic above each fender well. windshield post. To thick. Needs trimmed out at side window opening. the lips at door lines are big. The fit of the cage to chassis is another story. so guys. If you have this kit. Be ready for some work to make it look right for the build. or I just might be to picky..lol pics in a little bit coming at ya..

I love those polar light chassis. But you're right the body is way too thick and uneven

OH NO! smileyCAELY0UD_zps3cc8a166 I was excited that you were building this as Richard is my all time favorite driver and was thinking maybe I'd pick up this kit, or maybe the Talledaga kit. Wonder if usiing an AMT 71 Charger body or an old MPC 74 Chager body would be easier to work with....

AK a lot of mods doing it that way but if you did I would get the mpc body. The amt body is way off the mark

okay, just a thought...I think I've got some old MPC Charger and Roadrunner NASCAR bodies and some parts buried DEEP in my stash somewhere. Maybe some day I'll dig them up and see what would be involved in mating them to the Polar lights chassis.

I agree chris. way to thick of body and such. Chassis makes a nice one with alot of fitting and sanding. AK. I got the petty charger out and body is able to fit the chassis. Not much work either . Looks like sand the side cage down a little and trim the side of chassis. not to much. The grille and all looks better. The torino is a little better. Not as thick as the charger. They can be made look good with a little elbow rubbin.. Well. enough of that. After alot of prep and more here is what I came up with.

A little tip junkman. Instead of trimming cage or chassis remove some material from inside the body. It may still be snug but it will look tighter and sleeker for a built from a street car appearance like they still were in those days

Thanks for the tip. I have this one under control..Chassis fits great in the body. The MPC petty body is the one that would be tight. Here is where it is at. I love details. So how about drilling out all the hood pins, window bolts. and support holes. Adding hood pin straps on front. Next work on the shocks and small block mopar to power it up. More to come.. Stay tune brothers.. smileyCASHS601_zps1c54a9c5

progress last night was stomping in the petty garage. the rear was assembled with the goodies, engiine got a work over, and chassis is starting to come alive.. brake line and bolts are silver wire for floral arraingments. drill out backing plates, make a block with hole straight through, run wire from one side to other through block and presto. brake line. bolts just drill hole, add a piece of wire and clip off. engine got the usual bits. Dist., fuel line, throttle cable, ect.
