I know his is super long but some of you might get a chuckle out of this.
www.ebay.com/itm/80-Model-Kit-Lot-All-Major-Makers-Cars-Trucks-Rods-NASCAR-/121261942512?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item1c3bc666f0
I'm sure some of you had seen this lot on eBay a couple of weeks. Not to say this isn't a good deal but I thought I'd try to negotiate a bit with the guy since it's in my blood. Lol. I sent him a nice little message offering to negotiate if he was interested. No insults, no pressure. He responded very sarcastically so, naturally, I had to fire back. Now I don't want anything to do with the guys after knowing what he really thinks of us builder/collectors. He can keep his so called rare kits. I had already shared it on a different forum too. Check out this exchange.
Me: If you're still looking to get rid of the 80 model kits, I'd be interested. Although you call these out as out of production, the majority of these are still common kits you can find on eBay and other online markets. If you're willing to lower the price, I'd be willing to negotiate. Thanks.
Him: Model kits are a consumable. Many if not most that had been sold are now built and as a result are no longer available. So you have some unbuilt ones sitting in basements and the manufacturer isn't making them any more. That consumable product is now "rare". And the one-off that someone bought on eBay - they didn't buy a single model kit to collect it, it was purchased to build and that just made mine more rare (or less available if you prefer). You can quibble about "rare" but selling is the art of transferring enthusiasm.
Someone else called me out and like him, you probably did zero research before making your play. I picked the few he pointed out as common and found exactly two of them as sold on eBay - and both with a price & shipping total just under double the average price of mine which are approx 10.50 each price and shipping.
Respectfully to the listing's detractors, I do my research, I detail my listings (and then re-detail them), I command the prices and if it's not now it'll be another time. I also do my research on buyers - be honest, if you didn't want a model kit lot you'd be looking at individual model kits, you've been tracking this lot for nearly two months now if I'm not mistaken. Consider your hand shown.
It's one thing to be desperate, it's quite another to be stupid and I assure you I'm neither. Read my feedback, all of it, there's a reason people say I'm "a gift to eBay".
OK you talked me into it - $749.99, I already came down from my original $850 reserve.
I better let you go, you're going to be busy finding and buying these one...............at................a..............time.
And then there's the excrutiating painful trips to the post office to pick them up one...............at................a..............time, yikes.
Hell - that alone is worth $750. I mean $749.99
Me: I find it so cute that you took the time to write all this, what I call, nonsense. . You sell a handful of items here and you attempt to make yourself sound like an expert. A couple of things that I'd like to point out, without stepping on your tail of course. There's no way I could have been following this for two months because you haven't listed this lot that many times. This was the first week I followed. Not to mention eBay doesn't allow you to see who is watching your auctions. Great job on your detailing of your auction. I see you spend as much time writing nonsense there as well. Although there are plenty of chumps out here that might be wiling to pay your price, I'm not one of them. If you had done your research you would know that I'm not really interested in any of these kits for personal collecting or building. I'm a reseller. That's all I wanted them for. This is part of the reason that I know these aren't "rare". But your definition of rare and that of a collector or full time builder or even someone that know what they're selling, is at opposite ends. No harm done there. Members at my forum wish you all the luck in the world that you sell these. We might just start a pot to see how long it take before you change your approach. My buds and I will continue to view and enjoy a chuckle every now and again to see your listing week after week.
One last thing, it's 2014. Usps, ups, fedex and any other delivery method you choose now delivers to your front door. See you missed that fact in your research...
You are definitely a gift. Too-da-loo!
Him: Congrats - you've just been added to the blocked buyer list, moron! Excuse me, expert model reseller moron, that is. Give my regards to the other idiots in your "forum", more like minded idjits like yourself I'm sure.
Had to visit your store. And the negative Feedback - quite simply - a liar, a cheater and a deadbeat, it's amazing how many negative reviews you have that are always the buyer's fault.
Me: Oh lord you took the time to respond. Buahahaha! Oh no! Not the blocked buyers list! How will I live?! I will give your regards to the guys at the forums. Surely you want everyone to know what a delight you are and what you think of the thousands of collectors that also shop on eBay.
Awww you visited my store....how nice of you. And here you had me thinking that you had done your research already. I'm not concerned about what you think of my feedback or my listings. I sleep well knowing that I provide the customer service that collectors and builders expect. There's always going to be folks in this world that forget how to read or think they can manipulate eBay's feedback system. Unfortunately this same world hasn't figured out how to keep them away. What you and I might consider junk, there are folks that are looking for exactly that to finish their builds. I have a feeling you don't have a single clue about this hobby. Hmmm. Again, your research seems to be lacking bits and pieces of information that might have been beneficial to you in your sales and in this conversation which has continued to entertain us.
Anyways, please do list these again. We're eager to see your continuous failure. There are at least 2 forums already making bets on this. Oh and they are starting to post "thanks yous" for your most recent name calling.
We continue to wish you the best of luck. Please feel free to respond with more nonsense. This is really firing up the gang! History might repeat itself and we might get another petition going to get you and your "rare" kits off the market.
So lovely speaking to you again. Make our day and provide a response...pretty please.
