Greetings I thought I would create a thread for my first big model of the year. As you can tell by the title its an Old AMT Dual Trailer model with twin Dollies. I will upload pictures as much as I can during the painting process. I forgot to take pictures of the pieces as I was building them, so I have taken pictures of them primed and being painted. Would love to hear your input and thoughts as I build this old kit. These doors gave me the hardest time. I spent 3 hours trying to put them in, I got so mad at them I just got the glue and sealed them up so they won't move. Crossing fingers that the paint job could do some hiding of the spaces. These are primed and ready to go for painting. Can't wait to see all these painted.

Looking good, as for the runs in the paint, I would let it dry a few days then sand the runs to flatten them out and spray another light coat of paint. That should solve your problem there lol. Keep it up.

Thanks Jbailey for the tip. I got the two dollies sprayed today ( I only need one but Ended up doing two), also got the landing gear units sprayed as well. Just Gave everything a second spray a few hours ago, will have to maybe do one more spray before I attach them to the units. Also as I was building the tires I noticed that I was missing a Brake hub. So I did some thinking and cut off the top of a pen cap and surprisingly it worked perfectly. I'm just worried about the axle showing. Well nothing that putt can't fit. I plan to post more pictures up tomorrow. I'm thinking I might sell this extra dolly to someone or just keep it, any ideas?

I agree with bailey. A little sanding, a light coat of paint and voila!

So I thought I would spray the Rustolem clear spray on the trailer that is painted and ready. Well it ran on me I guys I will be sanding that down along with the other trailer. Well the good news is the tires are painted and everything else is ready to assemble. Now just have to wait over the weekend for things to dry and set before I sand again .

I have a real problem with rustoleum rattle cans myself. It never fails when I use it I get runs lol. Just don't get discouraged it happens to the best of us. Next time try spraying from further away and do light coats and lots of coats to build it up. I've seen some amazing paint jobs done with rattle cans and have done a few nice ones myself. This is a pic of my motorcycle painted with duplicolor spray paint and cleared with 2k urethane clear out of a spray can. I hear you baily. It was just the clear enamel stuff that ran which sucks. I will defiantly learn for next time. We did not make mistakes in this hobby how would we learn?

looking good so far doug. here is my tip for trailer painting, because the parts are pretty flat and pretty big, I like to paint them all BEFORE I glue the sides/top/front/bottom together. gives you a better chance of avoiding runs and such as the parts are laying flat. along with the fact if you do really mess part of it up, you can strip paint off just the one part. also makes it easier if you two-tone it.
I have two of these kits that I haven't opened yet, are those rear doors a million pieces?

The rear doors are like 10 or 20 peices. They come attached together so you need to brake them apart and then assemble. It was pain for me. I noticed that I'm missing someof the red warning lights so be carefully with those when you open the kit. I got my kit off ebay opened and damaged so I took a chance on it. I would offer to take some of the red pieces of your hands if you were to part out the kit lol. Either way the kit has been assembled, just have to take pictures now and upload them. It was a great kit to build my first trailer, just wish the rear doors weren't so much of a pain.
