Ok people , I have been moving at a snails pace! i have received my truck , but I cant decide which way to build soooooo, you guys can decide. I have to great ideas A. is as a custom, lowered with a custom front end , a custom bed and interior or B. as a gasser, noise up in the air, ladder bars, carbs up thru the hood and slicks. So I am starting this poll and who ever stops in to see what I am doing will vote and Saturday morning I will start my project.

This is a dilemma. Either of these choices would make a great build.

GB: question - I've heard several different methods for out of the box preparations. It looks like you either pre-primered or pre-painted some parts while still on the mold form. This covers a lot of ground, but I've heard opinions of it taking extra time once you separate the part from the mold by having to repaint where the breaks occur. Some others recommend separating the parts, then trimming the flash and finally shooting primer or using a light 2000 grit rough up and painting by hand (if necessary).
Do you have an opinion for either one? I have never primed or sanded anything but the body parts and have suffered for it! It's hard to hand paint a color when the base mold color is anything but white for me. Should I at lease spray white or grey primer on everthing NOT chrome from now on?
Thanks for the input!

Normally I would have cleaned up body lines and seam lines before washing then primed before painting. With this build i am going to distress the paint job to make it look old and weathered. So for this build i just lightly hit areas before washing then I primed it heavy with red oxide primer before covering it with green. I am then going to remove it all from the trees and wet sand. Letting the red come threw in areas of heavy use( the edge of the hood where many hands have lifted it, or the top of the door at the bottom of the window where everyone grabs it to close the door )I have a bottle of paint called rust( I used it on the frame and running gear ) that I will touch edges and areas that may have rusted. This is a first time deal for me so I am really just winging it !
I sand almost everything ( wet sand )my sand paper feels like plastic and you really cant feel a grit ( 10,000, 8000, 6000, 4000, 2000, 1000 ) i also use file boards ( for finger nails ) and if its real bad or I am removing alot I use my drumel. But I always finish with wet sanding. Of course the better you want it to look the more sanding you do. Same as on a real car. Then I prime with flat white or gray or flat black or red oxide ....it just depends what color I will be painting next. Any single color shot over these four different primers will all look different. I like to do the most with rattle cans, thou i do paint with air brush from time to time. Those paint jobs get very involved, require a lot of sanding and a lot of time. Could you imagine paying 500.00 for a paint job ? But that is almost what you would have to charge when you started figuring in time and labor and materials.
