when I got back into this, I swore it'd be one thing at a time, this however does not seem to be the case! I have like 5 projects in the mix smileyCAELY0UD_zps3cc8a166 got the pete 359 going, a 66 elco, a 65 impala, a 70 monte, and doing paint work on my kids 56 ford p/u...... the pete body is in the dehydrator along with the monte and 66 elco,[all in primer] the 56 p/u is in the booth and cleared, and the 65 impala is on top of a pile of stuff with the paint polished out and waiting for me to get nerve enough to BMF it. I though for sure a 6 foot long, 3 foot deep table would be big enough to work on,...................................I was wrong...............again...... help......

Lol. You've come to the wrong place asking for that kind of help. Hahaha. We are all here because we accept this type of behavior.
And many will say, "that's it? Those are the only builds you have going on at once?"
Haha. I think you're starting to become a true builder again. Good job, Tom!

Ok maybe I'll make the dark side yet. I said just the other day that I only work on one at a time. Well, guess what, while waiting for the paint to dry on the '69 Nova, I decided to open up the '54 Chevy panel just to look and yup, you guessed it. I started on it. So, I have a question: is the dehydrator used for drying paint and does it work? I had never even given this a thought. How long is the build kept in the dehydrator?

paint takes forever to 'gas out', before you can really handle it or do anything to it. I try to paint in the evening normally, then put it in the dehydrator over night. I set it at 105 degrees [this is important, any hotter and you run the risk of warpage and other issues] run It all night and turn it off in the morning before I go to work, when I get home, I can continue on with whatever I need to do to the body without fear of ruining the paint. it just really speeds cure time up. if you plan to get one, I have a NESCO brand, it has an adjustable 'thermostat', I also bought 4 extra rings and modified them so I can get taller truck cabs in without them hitting anything. if you want, i'll put up some pictures of the unit and the modified rings.

I'm worried I may start more than one project myself... It's so tempting, but seeing as I'm just getting back into the hobby, this first one needs my full attention.
A couple months from now, that's a different story. Haha

oldguy, here are the pic's of the dehydrator. here are the modified 'rings', first one is partial cut, four of these are full cut out, I fully cut 4 so I could put a rig cab in there while on top of something to keep the bottom edges of the body from touching the bottom of the dehydrator. I cut the centers out of the other ones so the cab could protrude thru the opening if needed, and I can still put small parts etc on the remaining 'shelves' in the rings. I find it to work quite well.

Hey tbill, thanks for the pics of your dehydrator. I looked at the Nesco ones at Rural King today, and was figuring out modifying the rings to facilitate my uses for this. looks like I was right on track after seeing your pics. I probably would have brought one home today, but they were sold out of the ones with a thermostat.
