I know that this is a major part of this site, but it isn't something that comes naturally to me. My main question is when to take pictures? After subassemblies are complete, when the parts are still on the trees, somewhere inbetween, all the above, or When I get in the mood, stopping to take a picture just doesn't seem right. Also I am very unorganized when it comes to building. I jump all over the place, even working on two or three models at the same sitting, for example I might be in a mood to put the engine block together and just do that on a couple of different models. My main concern is for entering a MOTM, but I am not limiting it to just that. Sorry for not having a clue, but that is where I am at with this. Thanks, Russ

Personally I take from starting kit then after about two or three steps to show progress. It's basically up to personal preference

I think you put the question right where it needs to be.
So when to take pictures?? Well I think it's a matter of preference. If you notice some folks take picture at the same stage of every build or wherever they add detail. MOTM pics are required per the rules to show YOUR work, you know what I mean.
I think you just need to find a system for yourself. Think of when you want to post pics and maybe do it the same for every build. I think many of us have multiple builds going on at once and taking pics does get to be a handful. What helps me is when I upload them to PhotoBucket, I create a folder for each build so they're easier to track and refer back to. You can do the same if you keep the pics on your computer.
I think I'm rambling already. Hope this helps, but ask any other questions you may have.

First I would say take a look at the work in progress MOTM pics that should give you and idea of the requirements for the contests and then look at the under construction picks and you will see what most people do just to show their build. I for one take alot of pics during MOTM because I want the members ( potential voters)to see what I am doing and how its done. It also helps the new builders it visualize how we do some of the things we do. In short there is no penalty for to many pics , but if you dont meet the requirements that could be devastating. hope that answered your question !
