CM: You never cease to amaze me. I've never seen a pro am Mustang kit like this before, and those tires are amazing. I don't remember seeing a matching set of front ones to go with the rear; I'll have to check out the catalog again. I added a few more decals and an matching shift light to the pro stock as it was looking naked and I had a huge sheet from SLIXX. Check it out and the HOT ROD Mustang; I finally got some pics up!!!
Happy Thanksgiving bro!

Seriously - there wasn't ever a "HOT ROD" flopper made anyway! It's been admittedly said in other rags that the car is a direct mold off the Kalitta long nose Mustang and the same with the Muldowney kit. Hey, I got it 1/2 price so it's a good buy! There's also a 1940 take-off of a Stone, Woods & Cook gasser with flip forward hood and everything that regularly sells for $12.50.

John: Just going over your comments. If this is a "weak" Revell kit to mimic Tamiya, either it's still got more detail parts than I've ever seen or you've been in your goodie bag LOL. Two MSD boxes from what I can tell, maybe a couple coils and at least a couple more boxes or gadgets I can't identify. All on what looks to be real aluminum! Actually, the entire car seems to be constructed of aluminum rods or sheet metal. Would you please tell me what paint you use? It's not the new AlClad in spray can, is it? I use something I got from the local auto parts store: Plasti-Kote front bumper paint in chrome and it's pretty nice. I wish I'd have used in on the Iaconia pro stock like you did with the Glidden.
I sent in the shipping for the "one-size-fits-all" spring build competition so I'm excited to see what the admins have chosen for us. I'm going to tone down detailing for this build (hopefully) and go for a nice clean concept. As much fun as the funny car has been, I miss detailing a twin carb big block. I think the funny car will be more fun next year for Christmas as that's when I get my Chi Town Hustler and I've now got the blower belt and cog kit, a dual oil filter kit, plenty of decal sheets and from what I've seen the kit is one of the best designed and constructed ones yet to be re-released. Fun, Fun, Fun!
P.S. The Mustang chassis, fuel cell, homemade oil filter mount & lines, engine w/detailing, cockpit and rear have all been either glued or pre-fit; all at the same time. That's when I test-fit the engine tinwork piece where it will sit with the body closed. Except for the thin winds of electrical tape I added to give the padding some authenticity, nothing interfered with putting the tin work on. This should mean the body will fit with no cutting! Well, pray about it that I won't have to do too much carving as I really want a nice, clean finished product. One minor problem with the resin pre-wrinkled SMBC slicks; I got one of the rear wheels off center on the slick and can't test the damage 'cause they shorted me an axle. I have to get one from the hobby store in alum rod form. That's an unknown...

Ya Bro i used the alclad spray paint quite a bit. I mean the car does have some cool detail chrome parts. msd boxes ect they just aren't molded with the quality of Tamiya. however it wasn't a bad attempt I wish they still did them this good not sure what happened but they or sure lost some of the quality this kit has. As for slicks man I'm totally sold on Competition Resins slicks man I'm buying about 10 sets asap.

Hmmm... So how old is this kit? From what I'm understanding, this kit is older than what is currently produced and accessories aren't as good? That's too bad. I've never tried Tamiya, so I'm guessing the kits are really detailed but difficult to build? I wouldn't think they're into drag cars, but mostly road racing ones.
