Belongs in my 66 Nova Appears to be a boss 429. Hmmmm Did you use clear red on valve covers to get that anodized look? Sweet looking motor, can't wait to see the rest.

I just use permanent sharpie's to get anodized look on anything chrome...ya just have to let it dry good or it rubs off pretty easily. lightly spray a little clear cote after it sets awhile will help it not rubbing off. Thank you guys !!

cm: is that a vertex mag off of Ebay? I'm not sure what I put in my Nova; it don't quite look the same but anodized red with and MSD decal on top would look really pro.

Yeppers I think mine was a Model Master's one got from Hobby link. Just painted the top with a red sharpie then let it dry good and put some clear floor polish on it.

That's the ticket! I saw a build of a funny car with TWO of these (well, just a little different but soo close) and a couple of those nice MSD rectangular boxes glued to the frame side by side and wired in. It was HOT!!

NO MAS, NO MAS! I have no idea how or where you got/built those rear shocks but they are the shiz. Nice job with the dash too; the push button starter, fire system, etc and the shifter with shift light looks like the real deal. Don't forget the Lenco shifter LOL

Mitch, I hope you don't mind me asking a couple questions for you and CM. I'm working on a pro street T-bird and have some questions. Were your chassis plates flat? I think mine is warped because engine plate wouldn't touch chassis roll bars, and one of the firewall bars isn't close to the hole. Were either of you able to use steering linkage? I don't see any way it will clear pullies nor engine plate. Lastly, how hard is it to mount rear end to chassis? Thanks for your help!

owhite3: you're describing exactly what I went through! 1st, if you mean where the engine plate is suppose to rest on the two front chassis extension bars, I got some Evergreen flat strips (I don't have the size handy); might be 1/8" and just cut pieces off for both sides to fill in the gap. Once I glued and painted them, they just looked like support extensions.
I had the same problem with the bar fitting into the hole; I think I just muscled it in. I left the steering linkage out until late and it ended up fitting at the firewall but not quite at the steering box near the front frame. It's a small thing most don't notice.
The rear is a matter of cautiously applying glue with a tooth pick. I think I attached the shocks to the chassis first and let them firm up, then affixed the front four link to the chassis and lowered it onto the shocks (make sure you slightly clean out the shock mounting holes and when you glue them to the bottom chassis, rotate them to ensure the holes will be correctly oriented for the 4 link mounting tabs!).
Believe me, I understand how hard this model is. I think there are quite a few of these kits modeled off the same kit molds and it's up to us to make 'em fit. I wish I had better pics to demonstrate what I did during the build. Send a PM to CM (LOL) and ask him also - he takes WAY better pics than I can; my latest pics under my build thread were done by a friend with a much better camera.

Mitch O you covered it pretty good. Basically YES THEY DO COME WARPED sometimes and it's a bear to correct. If it's the main plate part I've sometimes heated it in very hot water almost boiling lowered it in just a few min then held it flat like on a wood cutting board until it firmed back up straight. Just be careful and not get plastic too hot. Sometimes it's just best to get one out of somebodies parts sale on ebay.

Oh I forgot something I often put the front two engine bracings on early in build to help keep it level. I've even made them out of aluminum or brass tubing to really firm it up.

Thanks very much guys! I used super glue and some upwards pressure to get plate on chassis tubes. I still don't see how steering shaft would get by engine plate and anywhere near rack. Thanks for heads up on rear end too! Will post in "cherry" once I get finished

CM's the go-to guy for me! Never thought of pre-assembling the tubing or making it out of alum. This is the place to learn owhite3. Your post count will be over 100 in no time!

If you really want a "steering rack" of sorts, get some 1/8th" (or match the size of the rack at the hobby store) of Evergreen rod. It's very flexible and if you make a bend in it where you need it and leave it set there for a while, I believe it will hold it's form. Then paint it and grab some glue and tweezers!!!

CM: any futurattraction pieces in the rear shocks or the wheelie bar? They look really sweet, but I'm mostly geeking at the detail to the tach/shift light. I could swear (and I don't) that the tach has a real chrome ring supporting the tach glass front and another alum. ring for attaching the shift light, which has nut/bolt holding the shift light intact! Wow.
Just got my stocking stuffers from Teds. I just can't bring myself to shop anywhere else except for MAD to get specialiced standard looking distributors.

Well it was in my cherry parts box probably canabilized from something can't remember off what. Man I found some more solid rubber slicks that are awesome at COMPETITION RESINS he has some great stuff also. They're 7.50 a pair and are solid rubber not hollow like pegasus ones. I'll post some pics of them soon. Oh and yes their are PE rings on tach Detail masters makes them as well as PE gauge clusters.

I'll check out the CR slicks, but the Pegasus are my heart's desire LOL! You got me into the time warp of real racing and I fixed up some Evergreen rods last night for shift lights LOL! I put decals on the blower belt and man they look great! Nothin' like decals in the right place! Happy Thanksgiving!
