I did not finish my Dawn of the Dead MOM build because of a bad case of the evil fisheyes. The car is a promo Geo Storm cast in yellow plastic. I thoroughly washed it in Dawn dish soap and tried to spray it with black Rustroleum enamel. The results was a bad case of fisheye. I threw it into the pond. The offending paint came off very well. Yesterday I tried again. First I wiped it all down with 91% rubbing alcohol. I then tried to mist on a coat of the same paint.
I got the same results. What am I doing wrong? What do I need to do to prevent this?

I never have good luck with Rustolyum Gloss Black . I would suggest primer , red oxide first before the black and maybe switch to a different brand of black ! I get great results from the Walmart brand black and it’s only 99 for a big can

Yes siree…...ol' Dave's right. Try stripping again and after clean up prime it with the Tamiya rattle can grey primer from Hobby Lobby. Then give 'er another go with your black paint.

I noticed on a few models that some just don't want to be painted a certain color. Testor's had a pearl line of paints about 15 years ago and I tried to do a pearl black Bronco and a buddy tried to same model in pearl green. Neither turned out well. I agree with GB about the primer. That could help add a barrier between the black and the plastic that the paint will adhere to. I would offer some more autobody advice but I have found that sometimes painting 1/24 scale is different than painting 1/1 scale.
