Ted: Can you share your painting steps with this car? After wash, prep and primer, what paint, misting coats 1st?, how many total color coats and how long of a wait in between? Was it a shaker or an air paint job? What distance between the sprayer and the model? Did you wet/dry sand or polish between wet coats?
Sorry for all the questions but on my 2nd and most serious build, I washed, lightly sanded, filled and sanded where necessary, primed and prep sanded. I used 2 misting coats and then followed with wet coats 20 minutes apart up to 5 coats. I have slight orange peal on the roof and rear trunk lid; it looks nowhere as good as yours. It is the much maligned Testors "One Coat" paint. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can proceed from here? I've heard just to spray the clear coats, then buy a wet sanding/polishing kit and follow it's directions, being sure not to polish hard or deep enough to burn through the clear coat. Any help would be appreciated. BTW, I've longed to build that model, but I've got the Shoebox Ford, the Revell '55 Roadburner top sportsman and the Chi-town Hustler all waiting to build. The '55 Chevy is going to be my Frankenstein as I'm going to convert it from an NOS build to a blown pro mod engine build.
Thanks for any help and keep up the good build!
