Ok gang this is a little experiment and hopefully all goes well. I would love to do this again next year. I asked for a group of volunteers to build a model that will be sold on ebay. The money from this sale will go to buying gift cards to be used as prizes. Once the car is on ebay , anyone including members of JsCs and the builders can bid on it. I have selected a model and will be sending out the parts ASAP. Each of you will post a separate thread ( Motor, Chassis, Body, Interior ) and will post progress photos as well as explaining what and why you are doing some of the things you do. When you are done with your part you will send them back to me for final assembly. You guys will need to communicate among yourselves as to how are you going to build it?, color choices, motor, rims and tires and so on so on. You dont want a pro street chassis with a stock motor with pink paint job and green fuzzy interior !!!! This should be a lot of fun to watch !! Builders are mustang1989 with the motor, sharp with the body, wisdonm with interior, gardnerpag44 with chassis and yours truly with final assembly. Again , unlike past ebay challenges, in this one everyone is allowed to bid. If it turns out as nice as I think ,i am sure I will throw out some money ( car can not be used to compete in any contest on JsCs ) So , volunteers , get ready to start talking. The parts will be on their way soon ( I would like to get them back no later then mid Oct. ) and here is the car we will be building !! Dont worry my wife will take all the finished photos !! workbench 001 by David Keim, on Flickr workbench 003 by David Keim, on Flickr workbench 002 by David Keim, on Flickr

Deciding what style we're going to build is job one. We don't need PE if we're building a demo derby or short track racer, but a lowrider bomba is another story. When I see big '60 Chebys I see lowriders, however, I'm sure the rest of you are seeing 1/4 milers or showroom stock. It's also important to build something with a large following, so that there is buying interest.

Ok I have divided it up and copied the instructions. Boxes should be going out tomorrow. Heres some tips. If you want you can discuss your plans using the message system here. That way you can keep it a secret till you post pictures. second, if you need anything , parts or help just ask me. Third I sent each of you everything you may need. There will be extra parts( just send them back when you send the finished parts ) and there will be parts that you wont be able to mount because you are not doing final assembly. You will how ever need to pain or detail them. Lastly when you send everything back to me include any notes that you feel I may need to complete this final assembly. Thanks guys and have fun !!!

The box art is a cool looking color & build for sure !!! A lot of people always buy models because of the way they look on the box cover and then build it that way .

Got the interior today. Don't know whether to make it factory stock, crushed velour, street/strip, gutted, aluminum paneling, and then there's the question of color. Need some info guys.

Great , everyone should have or getting soon their box! You boys figure everything out and then each of you start your own thread in the progress pictures ( one for motor, one four interior, one for chassis and one for body) once your done send everything back to me for final assembly and then I will post finished pics. This should be a lot of fun to watch !!

I got the Chassis a couple days ago , now just need some info on how we are going to build this to get started . I kind of like the version on the side of the box , like a street machine . Any other ideas ?

So, tell us Sharp which brand and color of paint are you using, so that I can color coordinate the interior. Should the interior be box stock? The '61 didn't have buckets available, should I update to '62 buckets?

Will be on this one soon. Had good ol' Hurricane Harvey visit the neighborhood over the weekend so I've been busy doing repairs after returning from out of town. I did get the engine on the day I left though and should be able to start the build up pretty quick.

Wisdonm,I'm liking that box art build with them colors and wheels,I think that's a cool looking build! the paint that I want to use is Folk Art acrylic, this paint I got from Walmart for less then 2 bucks a bottle the clear I got for less then 3 bucks. Here's some pics of the paints and the airbrush that I'll be using and a test spray with the color and clear coat on a spoon. Let me know what you guys think of the colors and paint. Wisdonm, I like the idea with the bucket seats, that would look cool with a 4 on the floor!!

The engine doesn't have much in the way of different options so what I'll probably do is replace the carburetor and a breather with a little better suited one to the street machine version that it looks like we are going with. I did a lot of clean up on this bad boy this morning and had to cut the rear alignment dowel on the engine half to get it all to line up in the rear. Here's where we are right now:

I'm using that same motor for a '30 Ford build that I have going. (again!) Also I added some stuff from other kits. David S.
