This is the story of a 24 hour turnaround on a clear coat disaster. I had this model for years. Somebody else painted the body and I do not know the origin of that paint. I decided to foil the trim. It turned out great. Next was to clear it which I always do to my builds. The clear coat destroyed the paint. I had to soak it in brake fluid and strip all the paint. I scuffed the body of residual paint and sanded the body down. Next was to prime the body and wet sand it again. Then I put down 3 nice even coats of Tamiya #54. The body and the new paint are nice and smooth and the paint is excellent. All this in 24 hours, VERY COOL!! Started with this, Foiled and clear coated the body, Found this all over the body after it dried, Stripped of all the bad paint, Primed and wet sanded, Re painted in Tamiya #54 and drying now.

While the red was nice, I like it better in it's new blue coat

Looks great! Always liked the taillights for the 69 better than the 68.
One question, does the light panel fit the 68?

sorry to hear about bad reaction between the paint and clear, but glad it all worked out in the end! That blue is a great choice!
