That's it - I am gonna BMF and then clear it as well. I have always wondered if this would work, and your BMF is still nice and shiny.
Awesome job!!

Thanks guys. The only reason I clear after is to help hold down the foil better. Did not know if I was supposed to do it that way but I did and it worked. I had issues with the green car. Was not sure because the foil was not sticking too good. I was wondering if I should have washed the body real good before the foil or should I have sprayed a coat of clear, let it dry, apply the foil, and clear again. I do not know as I have always painted trim. These are only the fourth and fifth models I have foiled and I am new at it. I really do not know if I am doing it all wrong as I have never asked and have never been told how to do it. I just did it? It worked! I have at least 25 more builds that are ready to foil. I guess I am going to be busy??

LOL - 25 more foil jobs!! OH BOY, I myself may run in horror from such a task, ha!
I always ran with the knowledge that when foil is clear coated, it kind of takes away the chrome affect. One thing I have read for helping the foil stay put, is to run a slight film of Elmer's white glue on the trim, to help it stay down. The other thing I have learned from foil, if it's old, it's no good. Definitely need to use it while it is new. I am like you, I would rather paint the trim myself, but if the foil is done right, it sure makes a big difference. DeeCee is a master at the foiling!

I'm like you self taught. My idea has always been after time glue tends not to be glue anymore.so I foil then clear to hold it down but I have noticed that if I sand with 2000 first it seems to stay down better when working with it. But we all have our own ways we like to do things and what ever works best for you is always the best way.it sure does look good I had a hard time switching at first. Keep on foiling and foiling and foiling. Sounds like you have a lot to do. You will be an expert when your all done.

I guess I am going to be busy?? Those Cuda's are looking good mate. I will offer my opinion on clearing over BMF... I have done it twice, and will never do it again, what happens, is when you polish the body, you will usually rub through on the roof gutters, window edges etc, these are all the pieces you usually cover with BMF, so it don't usually matter, but as soon as you rub through the clear over the BMF, which is easily done, as there is usually only a couple of light coats of clear over the BMF, it changes color, and looks patchy, and really looks s#!t mate. You then need to rub all the clear off the BMF, or re-do the BMF, SO clear coating it doesn't really achieve anything. If you need clear to hold the BMF down, throw it out, it has gone off, you can try some white glue if you still want to use it though. THIS IS JUST MY HONEST OPINION, AND NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN IF THINGS GO WRONG, TERMS AND CONDITIONS MUST BE READ AND UNDERSTOOD AND GOOD LUCK..
