Bod painted with some paint from Lowes. I already had it in my paint stash and had used it on my 1:1 cars so tried it. Very nice texture almost a rubbery feel I'll post a pic of the can later.

Dude! how did you know this is my Christmas present! I've heard if you're trying to be historic, the decals for the hood/scoop is worthless to try to install. I got a LOT of these parts from Ebay as a junkyard/diorama (The air bottles/batteries/computer tuning screen ended up in the back seat of my Nova as NOS controls LOL. I thought the Jukebox was an NOS car but darned if it looks like you have a blower on top of a manifold in your pictures. I considered myself pretty sharp on pro mod/top sportsman history, but what are all the red/blue straight and 45 degree annodized fittings in the top photo? They resemble NOS dry system injectors meant for a lower manifold. Are they included in the kit?
The chassis looks like a perfect knockoff of the Revell '55 Chevy Streetburner (or vice versa) except the dash and some of the chassis cage. Do the MSD's come with the kit? What about the decals? Man, I am so stoked to build this. I'm doing a two tone with period correct burgundy on the front/sides and black on the roof/deck/wing. Search the net and you'll find another pretty nice build which shows the burgundy front with no decals, but the rest match the original racer. Don't know if you're interested for inspiration, but DragRacingUnderground (DRU) out of New England has an E-town 1/4 mile based site and sells VHS and CD's with vintage footage of the 'Box, Charles Carpenter, the Tin Indian, Ronnie Sox, Scotty Cannon ('40 Willys) and even the original Soff Seal '57 Chevy. All the bad boys of the original pro mod/top sportsman movement with plenty of research material for authenticity! More photos as you progress, brother. This is the real deal!
P.S. the '57 Revell and a lot of rims/tires I bought on ebay that match this are really wide and the rear tires are 2 piece. I had hoped to use a couple of my low pressured "launch" slicks with wrinkles but they don't look right.

LOL !!M you crack me up! thanks for heads up on decals hopefully since they are fresh it won't be too bad. I've really liked the kit so far and no the fittings don't come in kit. They are aftermarket tamiya which are resin and I painted them. They even have 1/16 scale also got them on Evilbay. I'll for sure check out the drag site bro....more to come I ACTUALLY LOVE THE TIRES THEY ARE A SOFT PLIABLE RUBBER AND HAVE NO STAMPED ON NAME BRAND SO VERY EASY TO DECAL THEM.

Haha... Hey man, if your camera has the ability, you've gotta show me where all those fittings ended up? Do you have the name of the seller for the 1/25 scale and does he/she also sell the wound braided stainless steel lines? I'm tired of using this painted hemp as it's hard to manuever sometimes as well as glue. I see you've got the line/loc or transbrake on the steering wheel too. Is that a 'chute handle in silver on the cage next to the seat? Those harnesses look handmade too or did you buy them?
Yeah, I'm nosy as heck but imitation is the greatest form of flattery. I'll tell you a quick LOL story about that chassis paint look. I bought a rattle can of something silver for the Nova and it went on EXACTLY like yours. Except, it turned out to be a basecoat that expected some kind of curing or clear on it. As I started the build, it began to rub off and actually get shinier!? I had to start touching up with Testors Silver as it faded out to the molded blue. I ended rubbing the tubs, floor board and bottom with a cloth to cure it by hand and make it stay. It's a crazy world...
Anyway, if you'd be so kind as to at least tell the Ebay contact I'd be real greatful. Homemade gives you a sense of accomplishment but after a while it just looks cheesy LOL!

Awesome! I use Detail Masters, Ebay, Scale Modeling by Chris and Slixx right now. I like the purple on the carbs; like a lot I use gold with brass tunnels. Those have some realistic features for a Dominator like carb too. I plan to hook up a coiled wire for a line loc, even though it's really more street than full on race. Dang, everything looks so much like the unbuilt donor kit I bought I can't tell if it's from the Jukebox or the '55 Chevy engine?! You separate parts from the trees before you paint them, right? I did the opposite on my first two builds and ended up with a lot of repainting after trimming the remaining flash. Now I'll be cutting first, painting 2nd. Incredible work and detail, my friend. Keep us informed!!!

Hey! I found around $50 worth of items I want from SMBC (ouch) and a 40 piece AN multi-angled and straight combo of blue/red (unpainted) from bestbalsa on Ebay, but the AN's are either small, med or large and make no reference to which one is form 1/25 scale cars. I was wondering if you knew... If not, I'm gonna post a question on the auction. So many items to add additional and hopefully uniqueness to every build. I can't wait to start this build with the wiring/hose/fuel line kit from SMBC, etc. This almost takes the bad taste of the shoddy clear from the Nova out of my mind.

I paint them while still on the tree with a silver or aluminum color then let dry for about a day then color with sharpie permanent markers let dry good and then clear coat lightly building coverage or it will dissolve the sharpie but you can always touch up.

Just like the original IMO. I've used the Sharpies on my carbs before and they work nice. I see you went with red valve covers too. Did you purple pond them to remove the chrome or were they white to begin with? I like the purple effect on the wheels too (it looks purple in the picture). Did you Sharpie that too? Man, when I get some cash I'm going to pick up a $200 camera kit so no more phone pics!
I can't believe how easy your paint looks for simple stuff. So you're just going to clear coat the basic color and it'll turn out fine? No polishing or anything after the decals?

You may not believe this but now I use Pledge clear floor polish overall after decals but ya paint then clear most of the time but lots of time on prep kinda like a real car 80% is prep.
