ok, well, after presenting the wife with her first of many Christmas presents, (I got her and I tickets to the Trans Siberian Orchestra for the evening of Dec 23rd - this will be our 5th year to see them - awesome concert I would recommend to all), I got in a little bench time. So I decided to try and repair the roof drip edge that I inadvertently sanded a little to hard. So I grabbed some small wire and snipped off a piece I then sanded and rolled it with a nail file to remove the outer covering Then I used some light, clear window glue and applied to where I "over sanded" the drip edge. Quickly running through the house to the back patio, nearly busting a toe, tripping over 2 dogs and a cat, (yes - movement in this homestead can sometimes be tricky - I think life was easier when the kids were here and little!), I quickly, and kind of heavily sprayed some more flat white on the wire and area. After this started to set up, the wire was just too much, so i gently worked it out with a toothpick, then tried, in my caveman ways, to mold a drip edge from the left over glue and paint still there. Hopefully I can sand this to be close. I only need it to be close, as chrome BMF will reside over it. Wish me luck from here, it either is the first save, OR I just bought another kit - LOL

Hope it works out. If it doesnt you might have to sand it flat and add a strip of styrene.

I was not happy with the results of the rain/drop edge, so I sanded that drip edge - Clean off!!
Masked off the areas for the copper, and also leaving some white areas for the decals, or maybe all decals - dunno just yet.....

Well gang - I have some good news, and some bad news....
First the bad news - the roof reacted to the copper paint. The first coat went on nice, then when I applied a second coat, it reacted with what looks like water puddles...
I will get some pictures posted, but she will be taking a swim for sure.....
The good news? smileyCACETROO_zps365bb43e I thought of a new paint scheme. Going all black, copper BMF or paint for the trim, Copper all the chrome, still going to make some special decals for the lower half of the body, and as I was lying awake in bed last night, not able to sleep from the neighbor's dog constantly barking, and the misses having a bad night of snoring - I had a great idea on some additional decals to run from the lower front, up the hood, across the roof, and down the trunk lid to the bottom of the rear bumper. Kind of like stripes, but something much better, and way more special...
So a swim in the purple pond will be A-OK, I hope.....

Ok - here is the problem, maybe I laid it a little thick the second coat, maybe it's the Christmas weasel, peed on it through the night, who knows. smiley-confused005 So I grabbed some utra fine 400, 600 and 800 grit sheets. Off to the sink I go. (Again, tripping over the cat who decided to portray Don Prudhomme down the hallway) - geeesshh.... smiley-scared002 Lightly blocked it back until it felt all smooth and naughty.... Dried it good, said a small prayer, and laid a couple, VERY light coats. Will let this set aside awhile, then once dry, will give it a couple more light coats. Hoping this "Save" will work.....

Thanks guys. Your encouragement sure keeps a guy wanting to try his best! Well, after a second round of light coats - the moonscape tried to return. So I thought I would let this set up awhile and think... thinking-hard-smiley-emoticon I went out to garage - grabbed some good old fashioned rubbing compound to see if I could knock it down Then a few coats of plastx, and a new rag.... applied this 4 times, rubbing in circles, then in straight lines, then hatched across, (diagonally), and again in circles This may be as good as she gets. I am going to have to rethink some roof decals to help cover over a few spots...

Your going in the right direction bud, the problem looks like it was caused by going on too heavy, but looks like ya fixed it mate. two-thumbs-up-smiley-emoticon Those colors will look great together, OR, I just had a brain fart, how about you lay some stockings over the gold, and mist a darker brown/copper color over it, and TA-DAAAAA, you have a lace roof job.
Probably take them off first though.......

Thanks Mike - well, changing out of the stockings, LOL I pulled off the tape at least, to see what I think. Once I get a new laptop, (my screen cracked! I am currently "borrowing" the wifey's laptop), and can redo my decals, I hope this will splash it alive. I have an idea for a small side/roof decal, a hood/fender decal, rear side wndow decals, rear window decal and even a decal for across the top of the front windshield. I am planning to tint the rear and side windows, this should help the decals pop I hope. The whole bottom half of each side, another decal - this is the biggee I am going to attempt. Still keeping a lid on this, for now anyways, LOL For now, I can attack the engine, interior, etc
