Next was to grind off two small spoilers on the trunk lid and smooth it out.

next was to add the rear end and leafsprings, sand the entire chassis, paint it, and add some tires and wheels and make a completed rolling chassis.

Thanks Paul. I didn't tell you but this was one of my all time favorite kits. Could not see this going to waste. And it's fun to boot.

I know the feeling about the paint, I had left a 65 Stepside, KW W900, in purple power for a week. I then had to scrape and sand the bodies and prime them. I wanted to try brake fluid but was scared it would eat through the plastic.

I had the same thought. But brake fluid does come in a plastic bottle? I don't want to take any chances as this is not an easy body to get. So....purple power long soak is in order!

Been soaking the car for a week now. Have not even got half the paint off yet. This stuff is on this body like cement. Must be automotive paint or something like. Most times I can strip the paint 99% off in a couple of days. Not this schtuff!!

Started with a really bad interior. There was alot of glue used on this and it was a PITA to get it apart even after 3 days in the freezer. I did get it apart and the back seat was messed up from that panel that was glued to it. The floors were worse. I think the floor can be seen in the picture? I had to file off a bunch of plastic from seat bases and glue. Got it smoothed out. Sanded the whole interior, dash and added seats from a 70 Challenger. Put it all back together using my redneck spot welding and will completely tear it apart to detail later. Before, After,

Heres a picture of the dash before I painted it satin black. i also painted the steering wheel black. Not that anyone will see it but I took my tiny drill and drilled out the six little holes in the spokes.

Yes I am Dale. I have parts all over the place. I have a few large boxe full of models and parts are pretty well mixed up in the boxes inside the boxes. My sons had a blast messing with this stuff. I am going through them and finding parts and adding to the kits that the parts fit. I only have about 10 more unfinished and long sitting projects to go before I start doing out the box kits that are complete. I kind of cant wait to get to the complete kits but its sure alot of fun getting these old kits built up. I have a window to work on painting with my wife not being here as she has breathing issues when I paint (even with ventilation) and I have been in a hurry to get paint on the models and putting the found parts on them. I think I have one or two more to paint up and then each week I will complete one of these (and only one) until the are done completely. Its real hard having focus on so many at the same time. Whats the cliche, so many models, so little time LOL! Chas.

Been awhile since I have posted anything on this. I have been in a parts gathering and painting frenzy trying to catch up with the scattered parts of 20 incompleted models. Only one 5 left to paint now YAY!! This model has been a fun restoration. I have made some changes from the first photo's. The back sit higher (70s style) and the front a bit lower. There is traction bars that are not on yet. The tires are street tires instead of racing tires as this is a street machine. <br>Lets start with the motor /trans. A nice MPC Hemi witha 4 speed trans. Injection system was from a MPC Cuda as were the stacks. The injectors are from a Beer Wagon I had decades ago. I wanted the tall stacks but two were broke. The engine sets in the bay nice but will require some changes in angle mods. The interior is now complete. As soon as the motor / trans is completed and mounted its bodywork time and paint. Guess what color its gonna be LOL, This is Chevy Killer!

Thanks guys. This green is just a cool color. I painted another model, also a vintage MPC model the same color and it looks pretty cool on the body so this car will look cool when its painted. As for this kit I can remember building this just like it was on the box when it was a new kit. I don't like it now but back in the day I had a bunch of these and the first thing was to snap off the front of the chassis and glue on the race subframe and build them. One of these days I will find one of these kits which was my favorite kit back in the day and build it out if the box. Don't think that's going to be anytime soon as I can't even find a built up of it. Maybe Round 2 will pop one out sometime. There is a swap next weekend and maybe I can find one. For now this one will have to do. It was a basket case but its not any more.

Spent this past week doing bodywork to the car. Had to finish the windshield post. Re-do the left headlight repair as it was mounted a bit crooked and after I sanded it all down and shaped it correct I found when I tried to align the repaired part it did not work so off to the drilling and grinding again and made another headlight panel and installed it. Sanded, primered, blocked (repeated the process several times) the body to prep for paint. Lots of imperfections had to be smoothed out. Took a moment to re-angle the engine better. Put some coats of paint on it and here it is. Getting close to being done. Next is to black out the headlight and tail light panels, add some foil and strobe stripes down the sides and a few odds and ends. There is the repaired windshield post. here is the repaired headlight panels. They turned out great. The angle of the motor is much better now. Backing up a bit with the camera shows the new angle of the motor a little better.

Try soaking your model in pinesol cleaner and it will take the paint off pretty easy. You will have to scrap it off and then sand a little but it will take the paint off.

This looks great so far. Seeing an old kit restored back to its original glory is always a lot of fun (It's fun when building and watching other people's projects). Excellent work with that body restoration, and engine looks great with that Fuel Injection setup, too.

Looking at your screen handle that name says your a Chevy guy. This is the mill I cobbled together for this Nova. Look familiar??
