Yeah, that is a 68 GT500 for sure. Why dont you PM me and we can talk instead of wasting alot of time on this thread. I have an incomplete 68 GT500 kit here that could solve alot of your missing parts needs. Maybe we can trade something back and forth. I will get the box and see what I have but maybe minus the motor and tires most everything else should be there. If your interested Bud?

The interior is apart so I am still trying to clean it up with a file and sand paper before gluing anything back. I am using 800 grit paper for wet sanding. Any tips here will be useful. This car will get built it has blood on it from scraping the sink marks out.

Carolinaman.
I have used 400 Wet for sanding bad spots out and it has worked good so far. May have to prime afterward , but I think you would do that anyway..Can possibly go a little coarser if needed , not much past 360 or possibly 320 wet though.. A little trick is to use soapy water ( dish soap mix is fine ) instead of straight water..It tends to minimize scratching. Good luck .. Should be a nice project when done ..

Looking good C-man two-thumbs-up-smiley-emoticon When I need to remove paint I put them in the purple pond and strip it, less sanding and loss of detail then I sand the bad spots out with 400 wet with some dish soap mixed in and to me it's a lot easier that way, less work smiley-greet016

Yeah I lost the Snakes on the sides but I had no choice. The clear I use is tough as nails had to scrape it off.

Oh yeah - the stripes are on!
You could use pin striping for the bleed out edges, that's a whole lot simpler and easier

That will look good color wise mate, if it helps, when i tape up , i always use good quality tape, and secondly, run your thumb nail down the tape edge, it will seal a lot better and prevent nearly all that bleed through.

Here is a little update. I got everything apart and I have been sanding on the body and filing where I need to. Lot more to do. I have some mold lines to sand and take off and more general sanding. Where can i find a stand like this?

Yep that is where I got mine Hobby Lobby with a 40% discount coupon saved me enough to get other supplies. To get the 40% coupons go to their website and sign up for emails, you will get at least 1 or more different ads with coupons. They only allow 1 per visit but my wife and sons go with me to get everything I need at the time I need. I went one time and picked up 10 models on clearance
