Looking forward to this build mate, i love tuck n' roll, and would like to see how you go about it, i have my ideas, but never really tried it much. A small bit on a door panel was about it).

Started on the engine. Those distinctive 409 chevy valve covers. I also did some internet research on the real '58 and noticed that a lot of the badges and emblems were shaved, so I did likewise. Here is the body in primer.

You're right SC, the engine in the original was a 348 four barrel and a three speed transmission. It was replaced with a 283 two- speed powerglide and the next engine change was a 350 LT1,and now has a 348 Tri-power with a three speed turbo hydro. Although "Terry the Toad" in the movie , tells Debby that it has a 327 with 6 strombergs.

Got most of the undercarriage done. Now on to the interior. I purchased styrene from Plastruct, corrugated siding part #91509. Comes in 12 by 7 sheets. I cut about a 7 by 5 inch piece and made a mold using the Micro-Mark "one to one rubber express mold". I won't get into how to make a mold. If you go onto Micro-Marks website there is a good video on how to make a mold. I bought some acrylic paint at Hobby Lobby and poured it onto the mold making sure all bubbles were out of it. A couple of coats might be needed. I let it dry overnight and than peeled the paint away from the mold. The paint is pliable at this time and can be cut to size. I applied them by painting the seat with the correct color being applied. The seats ,dashboard and rear deck completed On to the Exterior.

Three things happen when you get old......... First you lose your memory and.......... I forget what the other two are. The reason I say this is because, at times. I forget that this is supposed to be a WIP and can't remember to bring the camera downstairs with me. Now that I remembered today, this is where I'm at. The interior and engine in place. The body on.Still needs the mirrors and a few other small details, like the dice for the inside mirror, but pretty much done.

She's turned out nice NY, I really like the interior and will be copying that some time, but possibly with that latex facepaints they use on stage shows(my friend does make up for them so I can get left overs to experiment with)
