Using a Steve Kinser Sprint Car - not sure it will be a Steve Kinser Sprint Car - thinking to possibly make some custom decals!!
Inspection done, looks good - decals a little scary - definitely will approach making my own. After cutting out those weird rubber centers from the tires, (why they do this is STILL beyond me), I ran into the first initial problem / challenge - the rear super fatty tire was a bit deformed, Trying to flatten it back with some weight on it. If this does not work, will try again, this time in the garage - nothing like a 95 degree Oklahoma day to "re-structure" the rubber!!
I will hold here until Monday 6/15/15 - thinking that's when we are to start correct? Should be ok, all I did was cut out those weird tire middles and sat a jar of weight on a tire - I will NOT DO ANYTHING ELSE until 6/15
Anybody gonna shoot me for jumping the gun a little? GET IT, Shoot me - Jumping the Gun - OMG, I kill Myself!! WAIT!! Shoot me - Jump the Gun - Kill Myself HAHAHAHAHAHAHA - I'm on a roll!! dramatic-death

Hey Tom,I did this before and it worked for me, heat up some hot water but the tire in it for a couple seconds, take the tire out then push the tire down with a cold rag.

No problem you don't need a wing to win but you sure need tires that are not flat or missing road-rage-smiley-emoticon

With Paul kickin it off the 4 wide start - I got after it a little tonight... What the goofy nuts at Revell we're thinking I hvae no idea. Why they could not just supply the kit with plain, non raised letter tires is beyond me. But the directions do say to sand off the Goodyear raised letters from the tires Shame, they looked so good too... Sanded and flat coated the Goodyear off the tires - will get the Hoosier decals applied in a day or three, then will re-clear with gloss, and then with flat to give that satin-eee look Primed all the parts in white Going with a "Semi Top Secret" paint scheme - hehehe...

Tom,before you apply the decals gloss coat the tires after you apply the decals then dull coat, this way your decals won't silver.

Got a little bench time in tonight, Working the frame, lots to touch up, sand and re-spray. First Sprint car I have built, WOW - delicate little buggers! Rims detailed, engine about half done. Will get to applying some future to all the chrome and should have most small parts painted up tomorrow night Paint scheme is still top secret - simple one really, but what I can say is this, making my own decals for it, and using some of the contingency ones from the kit

Appreciate it everyone! Great to hear you all like the rims - I was not sure myself, but with a coat of future, I think they will look even better. Hoping to keep after it hard through this weekend - gotta stay up on the others in this race - Paul and Sharp know how to build these bad boys!!
Decals will be a little time consuming, but hey, nothing says fast better than patience, er, I think that's how it's said, um, maybe it's, well, never mind... smiley-scared002
MORE TO COME - THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE!! egyptian

Had some bench time yesterday - planning on more this week I know it does not look like a lot of progress, BUT I have most all the other parts painted, and assembly is coming along pretty well. Engine is in, panels are just about ready for decals, (top secret ones), tires are finally ready for decals - yep, feelin pretty good so far about this build

Um, well, like thanks, I think.....

Appreciate JM - pretty sure I have my decals ready to print - sometimes that can be, as my friend DC would say, "buggerish" Just need to cut and test fit, if they are good, I can print and spray them to dry. Should have the wheels and more done tonight as well.
Dam summer is really heating up now after all the rains we had, heat index is in the 100's each day, and humid, icky, sticky! Just like Ice right now - we are also ridiculously Hot!!! Now there is a conundrum - (Hot - Ice), LOL - I kill myself sometimes!! running-around-smiley-emoticon
Have to wait until the evening to even spray anything. Guess I need to build me a paint booth in the hobby room soon
