Hi All. Started a new one. Yea another Olds. This one is a replica of the car I had when the wife and I first got married way back when. I was in the army in Germany and bought this off of another GI who was returning to the States..Hence a Olds in Germany. This is an old Jo Han Kit , interior tub was one piece except for dash, and Chassis is not nearly as detailed as current Models..But I like it anyway.. After looking at it for a while , the wife and I liked the idea of opening Doors and Trunk.. So I did (or will ) . The plastic on this thing is very thick in spots which makes it tough to open. Then I discover a major problem .. The floor sat above the Chassis with the Door off , so I had to cut out the Floor and redo the seats ARGH . I know I will have lots of work to do in the Trunk, but was planning on that , just not the Seat /Floor changes. Not in any hurry to finish , but I do want to finish it. It will be White with Red Interior as my original one was.. Pretty much built Box Stock ( Except the Interior Modifications ) ( opening parts ). It does have the 215 Aluminum V8 like my Original car had..Searched for a long time till I found one..Still on the lookout for a 63 Nova SS though.. Here's some pics so far .. Enjoy..

You know if you sold your car in Germany to a non GI (i hope thats the right way to word it, US isn't my language, lol) there's a high chance it's still about in europe today. Looking forward to seeing this built as the shape is pretty nice

Thanks Guys. Stitchdup : I did sell it to another GI ( Army guy ) who I recently got in touch with after all these years..He kept it till he came back to the states but sold it to another GI before leaving. I Doubt after all these years that it is still around but WHO KNOWS,( ESPECIALLY BEING AN ALUMINUM ENGINE)....Was a fun car to have over there though. A little on the big side as far as German cars of that day ( tons of VW's and smaller stuff around back then)LOL.. PAUL: Yea it is defiantly a challenge thanks for the Vote of Confidence.. Appreciate the comments ....
Tom

I think you're doing a great job, Tom. After your last completed winning build, I'm sure you'll do this one justice.
Would you believe I have a 1963 nova as??? I can't remember if it's the convertible one or not. Pm me and maybe we can work something out.

This looks very interesting! The interior in this kit definitely requires some modifications, especially when the doors are opening. Looks like you're doing a great job on this so I'll keep a close eye on it. Keep it coming!

Hi All. Have not been on the bench to much lately , daily life intervenes. Did get some done today , started on the Trunk Floor , fill job.. Just used some sheet stock cut to fit, now need some filling, next will be the Side Panels and Back panel..They should be Fun ?? Also did some more on the Dash/Front Floor/Side Cowl. Getting things to line up fair before I start with the Filler..The Hinges will collapse into the Side Cowl Panels when the Door is Closed.. Had a lot of Redesigning to do in the Dash - side cowl panel - seat mount areas after having to eliminate the Interior Tub Floor upon Opening the Doors.. I am moving along ( at a snails pace , but at least moving )..Here's a couple pics.. As always Comments ,Suggestion's or just plain Chit-Chat are Welcomed and looked forward to. Enjoy Tom

Hey Thanks Paul. Have been off the Bench for a few day's.. The wife Had Knee Surgery on Tuesday for a Torn Meniscus. Have been attending to her since, not leaving much bench time. Will get back to it soon I hope. She is doing a lot better since the Surgery, another Dr appointment on Tues and rehab on Wed and Fri. Will update on the 62 when I can.. Have a New Design for Deck Lid Hinges ( I hope -- if they work out ).. Tom/60s era

Hi Everyone.. I know its been a while since I posted anything on the ole 62 , sometimes life gets in the way ya know... Anyway got back to it recently.. Had a lot of set back's - Broke two window frames while cutting out the door's -- had a ton of Interior Remake so all would fit and look half decent -- Repositioned the Dash Twice and the side cowl section on the right..Worked on the Trunk Interior and just got it in primer, still a little more to do to get it finished , but here are a few pic's of what I did work on.. Comments , Suggestion's or just Talk always welcomed .. 1st-- remade the door frame from sheet stock and rod . Sanded to shape, in progerss. Now a shot of the Rear Door Jamb ( to body ) still some more finesse their but the basic is their .. Now a shot of Filler in Trunk Floor Area now a shot of first coat of Primer on floor .. Thanks for looking . Will muddle through it and Get er Dun.. Tom

Thank You all for your comments, greatly appreciated..
Rick : I looked for it for a while to , will be a replica of a Real One I used to own. They can sometimes still be found on EBay, that's where I got this from. An Old Johann kit, nice but a little sparse on the detailing, ( all inclusive chassis /frame - not a lot of detail in the interior. But I guess with opening everything up I am remedying that LOL..) but all in all still a nice kit for an older one..
Ice : I'm not sure about that , would need TONS of Detail which is not really there in this kit. But thank you.
DeeCee : Thank You much..Fabrication is fun but can try my patience sometimes . LOL Hopefully it will be worth it when done..
Stitch : Thank You sir --- Appreciate it..
Again Thanks All -- Tom

Thanks Coyote. A lot more modification than I ever planned on for this build . I guess that's what happens when you have to go off the deep end , when doing a simple thing like opening Doors and Trunk. Trying to make the Interior look Good , even though the Kit Detail is far below some of today's kits.. Not much I can do with the Chassis ( short of RE-MANUFACTURING it ) which I don't want to do. Engine Comp/Fire wall ( Fair) . So I guess the best parts of this one hopefully will be the Interior and Paint.. Even though it's going to be White I want to make it a Nice White Paint Job.. Thanks Again for the nice comment .. Tom
