WELL guys, I had to bring him home! The model your about to see, has a bit of a story behind it. As a kid, I LOVED the Dukes of Hazard, I mean seriously, more of the cars then Daisy, (BOY has that one switched around she was good lookin' and shes not old enough to be my mother for Gods sake!) But anyway, I was a model builder back then and come to find out yard sale hoping with the neighbors when I lived in Pennsylvania, I came across a yard sale 3 houses down the street from my now gone home place. And there it sat! I spotted it a mile away, it was gray, with a TON of glue smudged everywhere it seems and the guy I bought it from Jerry (was a neighbor remember) and he says you want it? 50 cents, Well then and even today, I couldn't get the change out of my pocket fast enough....The neighbors I was with questioned it, you wanted that huh? Its in some rough shape....You know the deal....I think I may have been 8, possibly 9 at the time, this thing took a bit of work, to bring it back to life.... A bunch of All-Metal REAL car auto putty, and the local garage was greatful to allow me to shoot it in they're paint booth while they had that nice, bright orange in a gun! (THIS was when my talent of spray painting was first revealed!) Anyway, took a ton of time to smooth out the sides and get it to where I thought it was ready for primer (high-build stuff) that way, I could fill ANY and EVERY scratch after all the time I sanded, and rubbed the body as smooth as I could get it. a paper towel under your hand feeling the body lines SHOWS you the painter A LOT of imperfections, OR just how true it is, at being smooth ready for paint.... So, without more words to read, have a look, this has survived multiple moves, and the longest one, PA to New Hampshire and hasn't had any trouble with any of it, (I LOST a ton of models), built, and unbuilt from a house fire to my home place that I was never able to get when there on vacation....This, is the ONLY survivor!

So then a few more to see: Well thats the last one! ONLY model I currently have done, 26 years in the making and FIRST time online, and for that old, built, UNTOUCHED by me since that time, I think, I done pretty well! For a 10 year old, way back when, used non-model materials to bring the ole guy back to life, yep, I done well! ...Few things I'd do differently, I see a couple detail mistakes, looking under the hood, bot I will NOT touch it, I refuse, can't make me! This is a piece of my model building history! ENJOY!

Thanks Dale, Its 26 years since its completion, I'm now going to be 36......So, yeah.... the detail I put into it is ALL hand done! Nothing existed for detailed back then, or that I was aware of, BUT, remember I was merely a child then and was caught up in my own home town too, not a lot to offer...
This will explain some of my "Detail junkie" ways!!!!!!

W O W .. If you did that 26 years ago -- Look Out Modeling World.. T H A T - I S - K I L L E R . Fantastic Job.. praising-the-lord-smiley-emoticon THANKS! Yes, I did that 26 years ago. I was a mere 10 years old when it was finished "As seen here" It has NOT been touched by me since, and for the past 3 years was on display at the local hobby shop..... I was a local PITA kid I guess, growing up with a garage right 5 houses down the street from me, same side of the road, so. I "visited" a lot to learn and try new things and thats when I asked the owner Don, if he could spray this model....for me, he at the time was painting a Mopar '70 GTX I think it was, may have been a '70 Road Runner too, ALL I know, that orange was almost a DEAD match to the General Lee's color.... When I asked he was like "Hell no I won't, YOU will!" Well then thats where it all began, first time EVER for me to use a paint gun with a jamb size cup.....WAS GREAT to use too! (I own one just like it today! NOT for the same thing tho....) AS I use it to spray polyurethane with it... BUT anyway, he after that had me around and had me block sand bodies on cars, turns out about a few months of this I was as good if not better then his own son was doing the same things, in a year I was doing ALL the painting for the use of the booth at night, after hours....Was a good kid, never a bad word about me at the time, (I'ma hellian now LOL) bit older tho LOL But anyway, any time I wanted, he let me use the shop to paint models, done A LOT of it with baby food jars fulla any and every color he had, (I saved and strained ALL the left overs!) All I had to do was clean the gun after I used it, if I used it during hours, and had moved to another job, area, who ever was being slow on getting the day done got to clean them, BUT after hours it was my own job, fair enough....The guns ALWAYS worked great the following day so. never had to live any crap down from it....Couple years into it, he sponsored me in a few model contests...And its built from there ever since! All the details seen in this model, was hand removed "junk" old wire, you name it, I used it if I had it....And by the looks of it, I actually had, quite a bit! What we all know today for details for autos from Detail Masters, and Pro-Tech and all the rest, did not exist back then OR they did and I didn't know or have access to them! I'm not sure which.... To be honest, I wished I still had a 18 wheeler I built, took 2 '78 International Transtar Eagles, built into a "Long Haul" truck, and then scratch built a 102 inch wide, 48 foot long flat bed spread axle trailer (to scale) and it done all sorts, played music/CB, working lights all around, and the flat bed had a complete, removable side kit (sides, and bows) to hold up a tarp over steel coils made from cash register paper rolls....ALL chained down to the deck like the trailer was a Aluminum "Coil package" made trailer....tossed it, it began to fall apart about 6 or 7 years ago........ I'll never gain that one back again, this truck? had 5000 pieces, ALL counted and listed....Only way, I'll EVER do that again, is if I find the '89 Western Star 6455 model truck by Italeri. RARE model, but I drove a real one like that on and off for 3 years, with a family friend! Good memories there, I've gotta say! So anyway, yeah ya can't tell I've always been a detail orientated sort of guy huh?

Thanks CC, this is the type of response that got me going way back when and keeps me going, presently....I mean, looking at the model, I can see a few small details that just aren't right, BUT, I will NOT fix them to be "right" I did it then as I thought were right, and well.....Shows me just how far, I have come and the detail? Yeah, its crude in a way, but pretty impressive for 26 year old stuff, all scratch built from junk wire and stuff laying around my home place. Not to shabby for an imagination either I must say, how I shoe-horned all that crap under the hood of that Charger, I simply can not remember! AND it even has heat core hoses! LOL in the General From Kentucky? Heat? Really? LOL I just have to laugh plus, it was a Pro-Street race car for all intent and purpose!

As the Iceman told me when I fist posted on this site - "We are our own worst critics". Heater hoses or not, from Kentucky or Alabama, either way you slice it - Outstanding job!!!!!!

CC....the REALLY funny part? I WILL NOT tell you just how many "General Lee's are SITTING in my shop to BE BUILT along side this one!
And no, the '69 Dodge Charger R/T is NOT my favorite car! Close, but no Cigar, my favorite car, goes to the '70 Dodge Coronet, or Super Bee! ANY one of them offered, the '70 Coronet, "500", R/T, Super Bee, "R/T", 4 Door, Wagon, doesn't matter as long as its the '70 model year, and the "Coronet" base model.....And engine? Flintstone powered for all I care.....I love the looks of that year of car!

Thanks Paul! It was very well protected (I have to admit for a few years my Step-Son took really good care of it....) He loved it more then I did, I think, this was, when he was 10 to 15, the 11th of August, he turned 20! Where does the time go?
But as far as the paint work, and decals, YES it did hold up well for the time, and looks just as good in person as does in the pictures....The one thing I couldn't bring myself to do back in the day was do something more with the Chrome rims on that car...The chrome is like new and super polished and really, I've done nothing to it....Just one of the details I see, that now, I'd do something more with if I were to do it again!
BUT, thats modeling skill growth, you know? We are our own worst critics, I know..... I gotta remember, I did this when I was 9 and finished it when I was 10....So...
EDIT: This posting, of mine ---> The Dodge "Red Ram" 331 Hemi...

Sharp, THANKS! It goes a long ways back in my modeling history on this one....sadly tho, thee last one from that era in my life. Still, pleasing to know that it is as old as it is and looks as it does currently, up to these pictures seen here it has never got its picture taken for online purposes!
You know looking at it, and realizing how old it is, reminds me of the time I took and remembering the adding of all the seen details, as tho it was yesterday! It amazes me it has that power to bring back memories of such things so long ago....
I got to say, it was fun then and the detail thats coming on my new additions will be just as enjoyable, almost to the point of transforming back to a kid again!
Thanks tho! This is what keeps me model building!
