To stop the mold kolor of a kit bleeding, shoot a couple of clear coats, after ya sand the body.

I like the Tamiya Primer, but don't find that much anymore on eBay. I want to try the primer Ice talks about so highly, the cheapo stuff at Wally World. But I have done a coat of satin or flat clear before and yup, that works as well

Wal-Mart spray paint (Wal-Mart brand that is) is "Color Place". The primer is killer! Its hard to beat for the price! At one time you could get both Gray AND Oxide Red primers from Color Place, BUT, locally, I only seem to see and find the gray.
I pick up Oxide Red at other stores that aren't Wal-Mart....BUT then its not compatible as a layer primer to show different degrees of needed body work!
As far as clears, you need "Dullcote" from Testors? And use a lot of it? I myself used to spray a GALLON worth of it at times when I was in the shop going for business, and I tell ya, ordering it like that gets pretty expensive real quick. Solution? Try "Frosted Glass" spray from Rust-Oleum! Same price just about BIGGER CAN for the same price as a Testors spray can! Buy it at Wal-Mart OR order direct, and does the SAME thing as dull-cote does!
NOW, in model car building I don't use nearly the amount of dullcote, BUT, I do use it on the frame! I paint the frame, flat black, do some "Frosted Glass" over the whole thing, and then proceed to detail paint the fuel tank gloss black, to look like a glossy epoxy coating used to protect the tanks outside from rusting, as the gasoline would on the inside....Then any other colors on top of that frosted glass finish as its "flat" gives a good flat sheen to the surface for the brushed on paint to adhere too.....
I'll have to get some pics of this effect! Plus the frosted glass over the Wal-Mart flat black, kind of resembles "undercoating" on the model which is why I do it!

...using it on models, you have to use a really good primer or it will "craze" the plastic surface....THAT primer coat, MUST be wet sanded tho, to insure a good flat surface, to have the finger nail polish applied too....
Works pretty well....Altho the wife tells me if she ever runs out.....(I'M NOT the damn store woman!) LOL

LOL I've used nail polish for years, same stores, but still get odd looks when I buy it, just from the customerz tho, it's fun, and I highly recommend giving it a shot to anyone, You know, I get that from the local stores (I'm a known customer) and the cashiers give me crap, as they know what I'm using it for, BUT still the chance is there so. yeah, whatever..... I've been found out tho, as a couple knows and have seen models I've used fingernail polish one person even recognized the color I bought ON THE MODEL, which was impressive to say the least! But yeah Customz, you know it right! LOL I recommend it to anyone, BUT be sure to have FRESH new "Acetone" on hand NOT fingernail polish remover, which IS Acetone, BUT you can't use it to "spray" the nail polish through an air brush the added scent and other things in it, will not allow it to be sprayed right (it will gum the air brush up, AND if it hits the model body, it reacts with the paint much like water does our normal spray paints due to the nail polish remover is to REMOVE nail polish, NOT apply it!

what on fingernail polish? I haven't tried that as on the stuff i got its not Lacquer based....Which for you might be the difference! As I've seen both, hows the "shine" on the Lacquer stuff? On the Acetone stuff, its really HIGH gloss.....I mean like freakin glass on first coat!

On the Acetone stuff, its really HIGH gloss.....I mean like freakin glass on first coat! I think ya might mean the Acrylic nail polish, I use 3 cutting agents when I use nail polish, Air brush thinner, Lacquer, or, Mineral spirits, now the mineral, is great for cutting acrylic, but I don't use acrylic nail polish that much, the airbrush thinner is great for all of them, but in only small amounts, and it's hit and miss, just yer average low priced lacquers thinner will work great, I get most, if not all my nail kolorz from Sally's girly shop, for a toner to my kolorz, I will use dollar store stuff, and when I make my kustom Kandy's, it's all lacquers thinner, once ya get the hang of mixing, it worx great, kunda a dull coat, once gassed out, then I hit it with med clear, from black gold, out of Texas, yer prolly wondering what I mean by med clear, it's a suspension clear, in other words, it hold all the powders, and flakes in suspension, ya don't have to shake the bottle as much, to keep the powders, and flake even in the jar as ya spray, I do use allot of flakes, and powders, I have 20 something different kolors of pearls, 15 something of just kolord powders, an at least 15 different kolors of metal flake, I can do a tut, on all the different stuff I know about painting, all kinds of tricks, kustom kolorz, but we would be here for a few days, I will do a vid on some of the stuff, soon. Dunno if I posted this before, I may have, if I have I'm sorry, if not then kewl, but this is a kustom paint job I did on a build, then spilt gold all over it trying to rush, working in to small of a space, and cat on a monster energy, started out as bad, but tryed to push thru it, anyway: Went from this: Look at the bottom rockers, ya can start to see the kolor shift: to almost finished, then splashed with gold, which I didn't take a pic of, was ooooober pissed:

Where ya get yer dust for "flakes" I do ALL my own mixing too! I myself, have a gravity feed air brush and use a bottle one for "heavy usage" jobs where I spray lots of "single" colors, that are 4 ounce bottle mixes the go right from bottle to air brush, as I've made up my own air brush bottle fittings....

I started at michaels, then went with some companys out of japan, I get some of my powders, flakes, and pearls offa ebay too, I use a top feeder air brush, fine line to 5mm pattern, I would suggest going thru Michaels to get the basics, then from there, hit up epay, (ebay), then run with it, ya want to search finger nail powders,
