That paint stand TBill is talking about is pretty darn nice. Here is a thread of a couple more that I made using coat hangers. Also don't need tape and you can modify it if you don't have wood for a base. After you paint you just find a place to hang it. jerryscherrys.freeforums.net/thread/96/painting-stands

Its cool guys, I'm not sure I was feeling the dark colors anyhow lol. Tom, I have a few different shades of dulicolor blue metal flakes and plan to get a can of Wimbledon white for a seperation stripe.

Sounds like a great new paint scheme JB. Blue and a white stripe, liking that idea for this car. Question, this purple power stuff you guys speak of, where do you get it from again? And I think I read on here somewhere to soak over night?

And I think I read on here somewhere to soak over night? You can get it at Walmart, or I got mine at dollar general for right around $5 for a gallon. It will say either Purple Power or Castrol Super Clean on the jug. It depends on the type of paint and how long its been applied as to how long it takes to come back off. I still need to get a sealable container before I strip this body.

What happened JB? Ponding didn't work?
I'm still looking for this stupid stuff as well, LOL
BUT, in our shop here at work, Ken had a purple jug in the bottom of one of the cabinets, it was empty, but it read Super Clean on it, I do believe this is the stuff!!!
Alas - for I have finally found the elusive Powers of thine Purple!!!

Alright guys, got the new body yesterday, actually a whole kit that everything was started except the body lol. I did a little work tonight, I started with opening this... IMG_20140813_154103_201 by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr Got the engine/torque tube setup out and proceeded with the cutting... IMG_20140817_234441 by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr At first I was going to lenghten the torque tube, but then I remembered I had an engine assembly from a '99 Silverado. So I tore it apart and cut the trans from it to use... IMG_20140817_234423 by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr And here's the supercharged ls9 block cleaned up along with the auto trans from the Silverado... IMG_20140817_234408 by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr The trans is now in the purple pond along with the oil pan from the Silverado ls motor that I plan to use. That's it for now, hope to get more done this week. Thanks for looking!

That is what Vette models get used for in my room too, they make great donors. Look forward to seeing what ends up where.

Jesse, I got a question for the "purple pond" what kind of smell might it produce? I mean is it strong smelling? Do you let the container its in soaking open to the air?
I ask as I'm seeking other ways to stripe paint and whats biodegradable.
Thanks!

I don't think it smells bad at all and isn't a very strong odor. I use a cheap plastic "show box" I got at Walmart for around $1.50. If you leave it open to the air the solvents will evaporate and leave a purple gell stuff behind. It is biodegradable as well!
