Hey guys - I've got to make a decision here. It's not like I don't have enough kits to work on (Ebay challenge, Mad Max car courtesy of schwack, Shoebox Ford, a Revell '55 pro mod coming in May, finishing up my Mustang flopper, painting my T-bird pro stock when it gets warm) plus at least 4 kits tucked away for future birthdays and holidays.
This Dobberton build is so cool, molded pink and has an engine as sophisticated as I've ever seen. But if it's really rare, maybe it's better to keep it boxed. I've seen that Revell '88 Beretta twin turbo V6 go for as much as $100!
Thanks!

I'll run downstairs (not literally!) and check. The model as displayed on the box is pink, so I don't know why the Hayes car would be portrayed as pink unless pink was also it's branding colors. It has the same 351, piping, twin intercoolers and superchargers/hats stuffed into the engine compartment as Toyman's custom green LSC build.
O.K.: Neither the Ebay add or the actual model say Hayes or Dobberton; however, the model is clearly stated on the box as being molded in pink. I may be mistaken that it's the Dobberton; however, reagardless - if it is the Hayes car the same question remains. I'm also looking at (overpriced) Soff Seal '57 Chevy, the Revell 57 Chevy funny car, and a '57 Chevy pro sportsman "Streetburner" which is as good as the Soff Seal in my book. All of them run from $20 to upwards of $50 (even the Christine pro mod). There a few funny cars such as Revellolution, Gene Snow, etc. that are pretty good deals too.

I broke ddown and opened the box this morning. Talk about highs and lows - it's the Matt and Debbie Hayes car, which is fine. Pad printed Firestone pro street treaded wide tires, beautiful slightly dulled chrome parts (which I prefer) and truly molded in pink throughout. Now the now so good news. The front end fascia had one side broken off which I found and can fix. The biggest problem is the actual molded body on the passenger side and rear trunk area. Not only did the rear body wheel break off (fixable) all the way from half way to the where the rear fascia is, but the body was heat damaged by the mold and the bodywork, trunk lines, trunk insulation, etc. on the passenger side completed trashed. I'm going to compare the body and fascias to my '86 Iaconia Pro Stock T-bird to see if it will function as a surrogate (no holes for the custom sidepipes though). I also intend to email customer service at Revell to see if any spare remaining moldings exist. I've seen an unnamed dealer on Ebay break apart kits and sell for full kit prices and if I have to I'll try that way. It's so cool I'll do whatever I have to do so it comes out intact. It's a really cool kit with custom dash including killer sound system, amps, speaker box behind the seats, etc. I guess it's a word to the wise when you buy a "classic" kit or rare one, be prepared that the slight box damage could yield big problems! Pics below: And a little teaser of the pad print pro street meats!
