ya, i'm a bit off beat for the norm here, but bear with my big rig attempts..lol. progress so far, did some work on the cab and hood, hood had a lot of casting/mold lines on it, i think i have them taken care of, primer looks good on it. i also scribed/washed the panel lines on the cab for the first time, i think it's going to work out pretty good. got a lot of stuff painted, hope to make more progress thru the week, stay tuned.....

shot some color on the cab and hood, ran out of testors spray-bomb gloss yellow while doing the trailer bits, and found some rustoleum yellow in the garage and used it on the cab/hood. it's way more actual yellow than the testors, side by side, the testors looks orangy-yellow. so I think tomorrow after work i'm going to get more of the rustoleum and re-do the trailer bits.
stay tuned....

well, my lovely wife was kind enough to hit Wal-Mart and get me some paint, so I was ready to rock and roll when I got home! re painted all the dark yellow stuff with the 'new' yellow, I like it a lot better. I think the truck is going to be gloss, and i'm leaning towards dull coating the trailer parts, in my head it sounds good. stay tuned...may have new pic's tonight.

thanks all. got a little done so far tonight. it had been brought to my attention that the lower cab panel should have been put in/massaged before paint. unfortunately I had a few mist coats going before this info was read by myself, oops. but, I started to get it sorted out. have never used putty before, so gave it a shot. i'm close, but it needs just a tad more work, can still see a bit of a seam along the back, and I have one lower corner that isn't flush with the cab, but it's getting there. also masked off the hood and sprayed the nose in black, slow but sure, i'll get there....

well, just when you think it's safe to go in the water......
hit the cab with it's last wet coat, looks great, no peel, and just a couple dust mites, then it happened....big old sag on the drivers door......ugh...managed to wick a lot of it off and out of the panel line around the door bottom. I think I can save it without too much fan-fare, but geeze, I was so close to smooth and shiny.............

no pic's to add today, but the good news is, the sag isn't too awful bad, after it dries for a few more days I think I can sand it down and it'll never look like I messed it up [unless I get carried away with the sand paper]. I got one of the 'bunks' done for the trailer, holy seam filling batman! the 'posts' that the logs would rest in between are two parts, and when glued together you get a horrible looking seam, so, out came the putty.
it would appear that my standards have gone up in respect to building since I was a teenager, back then a seam or flash line would have been ok, but now....sheesh, I have all of a half an hour in smoothing out something no one will ever notice [atleast at home, lol].
going to an IPMS show tomorrow, hope to score some more goodies while there.

still plugging away. I will say this much, never will I paint everything on the sprue again. I find i'm painting everything twice/three times, won't do that again. fooled around with putting a pin stripe on the hood, and got some of the trailer done [minus touch-up work], but it's coming along. front trailer 'bunk' rear 'bunk' trailer bunk base/suspension [mock up still] i'm painfully slow, and I still need to touch up a bunch of spots and what-not, but i'm almost to the point of actually starting to work on the truck itself...

Looking good tbill. I like the silver buffer between the black and yellow, gives it a nicer finished look. Also, slow still gets it done, take your time and enjoy the build.

more progress pic's, trailer mostly done, actually working on the truck now. started the engine and trans, and have the frame rails together. should see some good progress this coming week. I think I will have most of the frame and running gear done this week, that stuff always seems to go quickly.
