Wow, just wow. I cannot wait to see this this finished. It already looks like it could just drive right off your table. Is the stroker motor you put in your truck the crate motor GM sells? I thought about putting that in my Tahoe I had years ago but ended up selling it and getting a newer vehicle.

That 383 was built by a fella named Herb out of Spring, Texas so it's not a GM crate motor. I would hardly recommend this builder to anybody and if I had it to do all over I would've just built my own engine as I've been into this one twice but feel better about it now that I've done the repairs and necessary mods myself.

I have been looking over the body and prepping it for paint for the last couple of days. You know...the seam lines, ejector pin marks, flash and all of that stuff. I thought I was just about done with it all...............until..................I looked at the tailgate.
Somehow I overlooked the detail "ghosting" from the back side of it to the outside skin:
Some wet sanding cured that however:
I also managed to get the base color on the truck body applied this morning. I still need to do some wet sanding here and there to remove a couple of dust specks and smooth some areas out. I've got her in the drying booth now for the next couple of days.

Thanks Dave. There was some dust bunnies hangin' out in the paint but a good wet sanding took care of that.
Got the gloss coat on today. This is about 6 hours after application so this is already nice n' dry to touch. It'll be another 3-4 days till I bring all of this out of the drying booth. I'm really stoked about how this finish is going to look on the completed build.
The letters in the middle of the light reflection on the body is the script on the bulb:

Superb paintwork there looks absolutely perfect Thanks Ken. I still have a couple of dust flakes to wet sand out and then I need to polish everything out.

Well guys...………...I had more done on this thing than I thought. the only real setback was that the exhaust tailpipes hung down too low. I had to break out the mini torch and carefully shield all the surrounding chassis and apply a little heat to it to tuck it back up where it belonged. The ending steps are a bit finicky with the front bumper being sandwiched between the body and the chassis but I've now got that done. I still need to re-paint the tail gate and install the upper radiator hose, side rear view mirrors and do some last minute clean up, polishing and a couple of other things but this one's almost there....
.................and the completed engine bay:

I was really hoping to get this one into this months Bracket Races but if I would've tried to do that it would've been a rush job. The next shots you'll see will be the finishing shots.
