Man! You're nailing this! If it wasn't for the hot wheels in the background, Id swear you build the model first and hot wheels copied you!

Yes, it's going to be a killer engine. I knew it would.

Ah man, that engine looks huge sitting there It is huge Les, it's from the Scool Bus kit, and does seem way oversized, more like 1/22 scale, but is exactly what i needed for this build, i have another scool bus kit just for these engines..

Only 6 beers for that scoop? This would have set me back a solid month all by itself!! Ridiculously Cool Dale!!!
Love the engine, definitely perfect for this, and the touch on the rims - perfect man.

Thanks guys, were in the home stretch now, but having trouble with the orange flames. I tried to mask them off before painting it blue, but, didn't work, so i have just painted it blue, and will try to hand paint the flames later.... good luck i say..

If you have an art supplies store nearby, they have fine point acrylic paint pens that would do the job and they cover reasonably well. You just have to be careful for them spitting out globs of paint unless you have them pointing upwards. That and a cut out thick card stencil should make it easier for you than using a brush. Also the pens can take a few hours to dry and handling after might rub the paint off as they don't key to well to the paint

Custom decals would be the way I would approach this.
But the card, or tape would probably do the trick. I think tape would get you some nicer lines. Maybe, if you do a drawing on a card, or say construction paper, then use that as a template to trace out on the tape, this way you have the card to "flip" like Les said for the other side tape.
PS - don't forget the roof / windshield visor bud!

Cheers boys.. , Tom, i did do the visor, just forgot to paint it.. forehead-slap-smiley-emoticon It's done now though, Allan, i was hoping the flames would come out great, but a bit disappointed in them.. My pinstriping just ain't that good, but it will do.. If i wasn't trying to replicate something for a build off, i probably would not have done them. Interior is ready to go in too. This should be the last update, as i hope to have it together in a day or so..
Actually, after seeing the pics, i'm not happy at all, it might get a bit of a respray over the weekend yet.... thinking-hard-smiley-emoticon

I don't think it's that bad mate. If you are redoing them there are really skinny nail art brushes that are like striping brushes just much smaller.

sorry you're having trouble with the stripes. I too thought they looked pretty good. I know that they will be even better next time! One thing I try to do before tackling something that Im not sure about is test it on a scrap body. This way you can try the small brushes on one side and some pens on the other and see which works best for you. I hope this helps as Im really digging this build!

If you cant find them I can easily send you a few, I find them in the pound shops in packs of 8 assorted very small brushes and only use 2 or 3 of the brushes. They're cheap enough I don't even bother cleaning them after use, just bin em. EDIT- if anyone wants some sets of the really small brushes I am happy to send them to you

Thanks for the offer mate, i just went next door to my neighbor, who is a sign writer, and he lent me a $50 brush, and gave me some enamel paint to do the striping in, as Acrylic is a pig to brush on... stay tuned...
