Good to hear she pulled thru. That surgery has become routine, but risk is always there and those who love the patient are always very concerned. Have faith and good wishes for a steady recovery!

Mike, She went from Cardiac ICU, to Cardiac Recovery (AKA normal hospital room) How she now? I think you posted the move from ICU to regular room, yesterday....
I know this whole procedure well, went through what she is, last year...
Sadly, the faster shes "up and around" just a little, the better it will be for her as that surgery de-pleats your cardiac strength really quick....They have to focus you walking within 24 hours to rebuild that strength or it doesn't go well.....
As it sounds shes doing VERY well! This is the beginning of a really good recovery!

Thank you yeah she's up and walking around. I guess they've had her walking up and down the hallway already.

Mom's got that diabetes stuff as well just not really bad yet. I was honestly surprised they let her leave today but she's home resting now. Mike, how long has she been Diabetic? Something more recent? See thats Type 2, I have Type one, I got it when I was merely 2 yrs old.....I've had the illness for *GULP* 34 years! Which over time, with it, and having been a smoker too, caused me to have clogged arteries, (I'm now a non-smoker for over a year) Stopped cold turkey the very second I found out what was going on! BUT because of that and I haven't had a re-regulated Diabetic hospitalization in 15 years, I said, well while I'm here, and can't run, you best do it, and do it quick 'cause once I'm out the door......your not gonna catch me to put me back in here! LOL So not only did I get more hospital time (My Wife calls it pampering) As the nurses there were surprised, I was the youngest patient in history for this hospital at 34 when it happened last year! So, I was well liked LOL And the younger nurses and even the older ones....was a bit different for a young guy in that area, when all they see is the older guys....It was nice tho....They got all done what they wanted, and off I went 6 days latter.... Good to hear your Moms home doing well!

Mom's a type 2 I'm pretty sure. She just got it a few years ago. I wish I could stop smoking cold turkey I've tried just about everything.

Hey mike glad your mums home and doing well. Ya i have type 2 as well .only found out about 1 and half ago. Metforman, diet and exercise for me and i keep my sugar in check. I can sometimes cheat(with some sugar, wont eat the fake stuff) as long as im going for a brisk walk or a jaunt on the eliptical.

Oh that's what my mom does as well she will cheat ever once and a while she will use real sugar to her coffee in stead of that fake stuff.

-I don't like that imitation crap either. I've been Diabetic since I was 2, and I got Juvenile Diabetes, "type 1" I got all my "limbs" and its in decent control, unlike over 2 years ago, BUT with all I've been through its forced me to retire early, but that in itself isn't a bad thing since I've actively worked since I was 12 (grew up on a family farm) so.....I've worked as a family member on my uncles farm in the machine shop and doing all sorts of mechanics since then and have done pretty good otherwise.
Smoking, Is a real issue, its difficult habit to stop, I've had lapses in quitting, but never truly resorted back to it....
