Hey gang! Just like our builds, a lot of planning goes into upcoming contests to keep this place fun, competitive, and interesting. Beast and I are always tossing around ideas to see what we can do next or what we can add to make this place different from the rest of the cookie cutter forums out there. It's early in the year but what we want to do is ask you for your ideas for MOTM themes for 2015. We will review your ideas and decide soon. We will vote in July. I'll be keeping a running list on this post as you all suggest. - Rust Bucket - Any car
- Work truck - business name and all
- Lowrider
- Convertible
- Vans
- Mini trucks
- Police, Fire, Rescue
- VWs
- 24 hours of Lemons (Google it)
- Euro Trucks (DAF, Scania, Volvo, Merc etc)
- Beaters
- Small engine (lawn mower, tractor, garden tractor, generator, go-kart, etc)
- Coulda, woulda, shoulda
- Roof Chop anything
- Monster Truck
- "Redneck" build
- Replicate a Hot Wheels
- Any Hot Rod - any style
- Any Muscle Car
- Bonneville Salt Racer
- Cartoon build
- Concept Car
- Dune Buggys
- Off Road vehicle
- Look what I got for XMas (Only for those that participate in the gift exchange)(February)
- Patriotic Build (July)
- Spooky build (October)

Great ideas everyone. A VW is a VW no matter what car, truck or van it is. Santa, you don't have to wait until 2015 for those. Both of those themes are coming up in a couple of months.

How about a period correct build? Be it lowrider, hot rod, jalopy racer? Tell me more about this idea. Would we need additional rules for this one? It may not work for a MOM contest, but my thought was the builder would decide what they were building then decide a time period in which to build as accurate as possible. For example: let's say I want to build a hot rod for my entry and I chose a duece coupe, then I decided I want to build it 1950's style. I would be restricted to using parts that were available prior to 1960, or in other words nothing that was available in the 1:1 world before 1959. I hope that makes at least a little sense and gives a better explanation lol.

I get it. You're right, it might take a little longer than a month for the research and all but I think this is a good idea for some of the longer contests. I'll add it to the list.

Jbailey, i like the idea but it could be difficult to judge especially when the members are the judges and everyone has different views and ideas. Part of the reason for themes is to keep the builds the same so that its easier to judge. If one guy builds a pro street fully detailed, someone builds a boat fully detailed and another builds a plain fully detailed it is hard to pick the best one. Thats why we ask that everyone build pro street so its apples to apples.
Now on the other hand it sounds like you are right in there with Iceman and his decade challenge ! Right now it is 60's anyway you want. My understanding is the winner will get to pick the next decade ( 50's, 70's, 80's ....... ) so perhaps you would be happiest if 50's were next !

Ahhhh Haaaa,
The winner of the 60s Decade Build get to choose next build decade - cool -- I was wondering how the next Decade was to be determined... A lot of choice's for the MOM in 2015 - will take some thought on that on with all the choices you have listed so far...

The cat's outta the bag! smileyCAELY0UD_zps3cc8a166 That will be part of the prize. More to come on that.
These themes aren't set in stone yet. That's why we're doing this. To get all the ideas you guys have. We'll obviously have to narrow it down.

I realized my idea wouldn't work well while I was typing my thoughts on it lol.
So how about just a traditional hot rod for a MOM lol.
Oh and GB, if by some off chance I won the decade build (which I don't think is likely to happen), I'd pick either the 20's, 30's or 40's just because I have enough kits in those years to keep me plenty busy.

I like the idea of super stock cars. Those factory and non factory super stock cars were something to see in their day. You have Chevy's, Dodge's, Pontiac's, Plymouth's, Old's and Buick's. Oh yeah, and Ford's. running-around-smiley-emoticon This way, everyone can get in on the builds with their favorite car. Just a thought. Dr Peeko

How about a redneck theme. any vehicle will do just dress it up to look redneck. pretty easy and cheap to do with wat most of us already have on hand. After all we all have a little red neck in us.

I have done a hot wheels build with my son before, pick any hot wheels car, and replicate it in 1/24-25, it is a challenge but fun.

Still have time to add to the list. Voting will be at the end of next month for these.
Keep in mind December will still be Model of the Year from the MOTM winners.

Tuff one for you guys. Make any non military vehicle look military. So like tanks and plans are out, It would have to be like a normal street car or pick up truck. I got this idea for the one I am working on now. Its not as easy as ot sounds.
