Not only did National Hot Rod Association legend John Force log his 16th championship last year while in the 60 and over category, but he started this year off in Pomona CA in fine fashion. In last night's qualifying, John set his 147th pole position with a record breaking 3.96 seconds with a 6 at over 324mph! Quite possibly, John might show the crowd his rear 'chutes again this year and take another championship. So take heart all you model builders out there who are in their 50's, 60's and up, taking your glasses off to squint at small parts, constantly putting in lost part requests to Revell and shaking while trying to do detailed painting, life goes on! When I get bummed out about constantly repainting details or fussing with decals, I just think about John and that 10,000 hp monster and I just grin from ear to ear...

Right on guys! Man going from 1-3.96 seconds and back down pretty much to zero again in less than a 1/4 mile is crazy! Wish they'd go back to 1320 ft. but until there are standards and conditions for safety across all the tracks they where they race, it'll still a step back from the days of Garlits, Jungle Jim and others.
