Well guys, with work running out on my other 2 builds until my new compressor comes in, I decided to start yet another kit (I thank you all for this addiction lol). I happen to have the new AND old version of this kit which are identical minus the external packaging, so ill be building one with the top up and one with the speedster rear seat cover. And also... Funny thing is, the more recent kit is miss-labled. Box says Saleen S381, but im 99% sure in real life the car they are replicating is the Saleen S351. Minor details. lol Here is begins guys. Basically all mock-up and paint prep for now. A little seam filling. And some engine stuff. While I was clipping the oil fill neck and the oil filter (on same sprue section) the filter launched across my room. Wasn't able to find it... So i made one. First bit of scratch building. As usual, stay tuned!

Interesting. I also do this once in a while. Same kit - different style. Waiting for more.

Besides revell not knowing what the proper name is, its a pretty decent kit. You are right this was the first gen with the supercharged 351 Windsor (S351), the second gen with the supercharged 4.6 liters are the S281.
Its always nice to have two variations of the same car on the shelf. I should dig the one out I started years ago. Keep it up, I'll be following.

I've got the "yellow box" Saleen, and I liked the engine and overall detail. I plan to some day section out behind the front seats and make it into a 2-seater. Good kit and good work so far! Correct about the lack of "top up" cars too.

I was originally planning to do a black an grey 2 tone interior, but to keep the build time down and stay more true to the box instructions, I decided on all black. (Pre-datail painting) When I stripped the chrome plating off of the supercharger, engine accessories, and brakes the plastic underneath was extremely glossy. I feared a little the paint wouldn't stick because Testor silver is a monster in itself. So I sprayed the parts with some Tamiya Fine Surface Primer(white) and got everything painted. Went with red calipers. And the engine all assembled!

Well guys, I haven't had too much time to get anything model related done while dealing with the situation with my Mom, but... Here is some stuff that found its way into today. I had misplaced the K&N filter that came with this kit... So to the internet I went. Really good detail. Allowed me to to this. Also finished all the pieced that needed hand painting. And a paint teaser. Stay tuned!

Wow, I just realized I haven't updated this in a while. Got some more done. Interior is finished minus the steering wheel which i will probably paint and mount tomorrow. Crooked pod gauges, otherwise good. And I finally got around to picking up these little life savers. So I did this. I'm just waiting to pick up some more flat black before I can do a few final assembly and things before I paint the top and trim. Stay tuned!

Nice job. I always felt it was a model worth building, especially with that engine. Good to see somebody build one. It looks OOB (out of box)??

Nice job. I always felt it was a model worth building, especially with that engine. Good to see somebody build one. It looks OOB (out of box)?? Yup, almost completely OOB. The air filter is a B-N-L Resin piece but it's identical to the stock one I lost. And the oil filter is sprue since I also lost that. haha
