OK, so I am probably the last one to start their thread on this contest. Been a little busy and although I had pretty much decided on type of build I was doing, I was still sorting out the details. For the most part I have a plan now, but some of the finer details could change a bit as I build it. So with out further ado, here it is. Going to go with a kustom. Drop the lid and put it in the weeds. I have some parts packs, so I pulled a couple out to use some custom parts. Using one of my Cadillac engines for it too. The AMT parts pack has some '56 Cadillac front bumpers in it, so BAM! their going on it. Using the '49 Cadillac wheel covers from the Revell '49 Mercury kit. Not sure if I'm using the wide whites from the Mercury kit or the ones that come with the truck. Also have some custom rear fenders from my parts drawers. I think they came with a '53 Ford truck, maybe AMT? I'm also thinking purple for the color. Here are a couple of pics that are my main inspiration. Won't be exactly like this, but somewhat close to it since I am dropping the lid and using the Caddy front bumpers.

I thinks it's a great plan, Skip. I think you're really going to define custom with this one. Can't wait.

Go for it Skip, especially the color! I think Testors has an Inca gold like that!

Sweet concept Skip-O! This one will be great to see more progress pics of. Oh and don't worry, you aren't last. I'm DEAD last! I'm still finishing up my Christmas build, but hope to make at least a start on the truck this weekend. SO thankful I've got some time. Can't wait to see more of your work Skip!

Well, I'm working on it. Have a nasty twist in the front fenders/bed floor piece and a lesser twist in the frame. Spent yesterday evening trying to get it out, but this morning it was back in them. Going to give it another try this evening to get that twist out. As I have been fiddling with this build I have been changing my mind on some things, so I'm not really sure how this is going to turn out. too many ideas in my head. Also I have been having time management issues lately, so I may nix any major modifications and keep changes small. Still mulling over the color yet too. Alright, need to log off now and get at it for a few hours this evening.

OK, so inquiring minds may be asking, "is Skip really doing this build or what?". Well the answer is yes, yes Skip is working on it, and just to prove it he is posting some progress pics this evening. As usual he is running behind, but it looks like he will pull this one off in time. Should be able to finish and get mailed off in the next week to week and a half. The chassis is pretty much finished, just some touching up to do. The interior is almost ready for final assembly, just need to finish detailing the instrument panel. The engine is close to being done, just need to wire the distributor and final touch up. The body is in prime, but found a couple things to do some more sanding on and then it should be ready for paint. So anyway, here are some pics to show how far behind he is.

Thanks guys. As for the interior the seat is Testor's flat rust and the other is Testor's Inca Gold, which will be the exterior also.

More proof I am actually working on this build. Taking a cookie break and letting some stuff dry, so I am posting some more progress. Got the interior all together and after looking at the pics, I see some little bits of touch up, but it's done. Got the body painted and is now drying, maybe throw some clear on it tomorrow or the next day. Just have to tidy up some touch up on the engine, install the headers, and put it into the chassis. After that it should just be touching up and the chassis should be finished. I think the biggest thing left to do is the floor of the pickup bed.

Thanks tbill. The color is Testors Inca Gold. It has a heavy metallic to it that doesn't really show in the pics. It also looks a tad darker, but not much, than the picture portrays also.

Thanks knarf. Yeh, that Inca Gold is a real nice color. I like it and will be using it on some future builds for sure. The camera really doesn't do it any justice.
