Thanks Pat and Tom.
Anyone have experience with painting those molded break lines? I tried it on a spare chassis and my hand just isn't steady enough. Dry brushing maybe?

Dry brushing would work, but that could but fun to touch that nice flat black up. Me, I would probably try to use a gelly pen, or the old school way of using a toothpick, and touching with the side of the toothpick. Nerve racking to say the least. Maybe some clear glue and lay some wire right on top of the molded lines?

Won't happen with the pen or toothpick. I know I'll mess it up. I just know it. Maybe I should just dirty it up instead and you won't be able to see them. Hmmmm

That's an idea, but honestly, it looks fine the way it is really. I never noticed until you mentioned it

You are doing some very nice work here. The more I see your work on these wagons make me want to build one and see if I can do it as well as you do. I would especially like to get good at duplicating wood. I do molded brake lines depending on how they are made on each particular model. Those paint pens I told you about from HB work well but take a steady hand. Fine point Sharpies in silver or gold [for brass] work well also. Not an easy job. I usually determine what method to use when I look at them because they are molded different on each model.

Thanks D. These wagons have become a favorite of mine. and the replicating wood looks a lot better most of the time than any of the decals or thin sheets I've tried. There's no need to worry about it looking to thick or anything like that.
i might just end up skipping the lines on this one. I should've planned it ahead and sanded them off. Thanks for the input though. Need to practice more on something like this I think.

After a tough weekend I got back on the bench for a little while today. Kept going on the engine and started on some of the smaller details. I hope to start the windows very soon.

Nice wiring job on the engine. Are the battery clamps photo-etch? They look good.

How are you keeping the wires attached to those PE battery terminals? Super glue?

How are you keeping the wires attached to those PE battery terminals? Super glue? Actually, it's just an optical illusion. I made a hole on the battery right underneath the terminal. I just inserted the wire. Wont be able to tell when looking from above into the bay.

Nice idea on the optical illusion - makes tons of sense to me for keeping the wire in place, thank you for that tip!!
Man, this sucker is really coming together now bud - looking so awesome!!!

This is looking FINE! Will you be adding a Christmas tree to the roof, or maybe in the back?

Thank Tom, Mike, Dale and Alan.
The Christmas tree will be one of the last thing I add. I'm going to see if I have a roof rack somewhere and if not, attempt to build one. I'll tie a tree to it and then sprinkle some snow on the whole thing. That's the plan anyways, but as I've said before, those usually never work out. Haha!
