Well - as promised, I striped what photo etch pieces were still left and put the body in the pool Tuesday
Did a check tonight, some sanding and back in the pond until this weekend. Holy crap did I do a good paint job initially - crap is holding on quite well. But no matter, this weekend will be more sanding, cleaning, and start to re-prime. Believe it or not, I found the itsy bitsy "SuperSport" photo etch piece for the rear fender, so that's a plus! But I did want to post the pond pictures so you all know I WILL get this car finished, Am leaving the car itself as is. Next I will get (2) sets of flames decals re-printed and sprayed so I am ready to apply, hoping sometime next week. Just depends on how many even coats I will apply of white.
More to come this weekend - and may I say Congratulations to those who made the deadline - your cars look so awesome on eBay - and are sure to adorn someone's shelf or desk with great pride. Give yourself a hand guys - you ALL ROCK!!!!

Finally got in the hobby room this morning - removed from Pond - cleaned, and will get to spraying this afternoon The page you see is a draft of some new flames I will also get printed and coated to be ready once she is white once again. This time I am going to go with several coats of flat white, after applying the custom made decals. For the door handles and window bmf, I am thinking to paint on, (kind of like the 66 Pontiac GTO), this way it will better match the photo etch pieces. I lightly scuffed the photo etch, not to brighten like chrome, but to look more like aluminum. With the car flat white, and the decals gloss, when I clear coat the whole SHIBANG in Dupli Color metal effects clear, I hope to be left with gloss flames and a satin white body.

ok, so I got after the Evil 66 Nova, (I am beginning to think it's actually the 666 Nova). Flames cut, and applied variously. Cleared them on before they peel off on me - homemade decals using the Testors stuff and a regular plain Jane ink jet printer you cant mess around with, LOL Anyways, thought things were going well, started to put some photo etch on the driver side, Super Sport emblem on rear quarter panel was a snap, but the trim lines down the side did it to me again. Oh My God - I am gonna kill this car. Tried to "save" by painting the trim line, I will touch up as best I can with white - hoping the passenger side goes better, we will just display that dam side - once this car is finished, it will go way, way on top of the display shelves, unbelievable - it's EVIL I TELL YA - EVIL!!!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this nova kit is evil! I went through 2 bodies and finally pulled off the third lol, then I sent it to Beast for him to enjoy instead of me looking at it all the time.

Finally getting close to finishing I think. I am working on the window trim, etc. Soon to start clear coating it all and smack it together.
Got the hood completed, was even able to attach the super, itsy bitsy photo etch hood ornament!

Dennis, I would not worry bud. You, my friend, are WAY better at builds, and this should be a snap. Just check out the other eBay challenge kits, there was some of the most prettiest, ingenious builds ever. So for sure you woill knock this out easily, as far as what I feel about this build..........
Well, lets just say it has had it in for me the day I opened it. Actually, nothing but troubles building happened for me, (building and in my personal life), after I started it. The car itself, interior, wheels, suspension, all the jazz went good. But the body has given me nothing but grief. And the grief I can only blame myself for. I can honestly say, I have no idea why I keep making mistakes as I am trying to complete my vision. Re-painted twice, re-made and re-applied my own decals, etc. Honestly, what I truly see happening, especially after last night and today, I plan to finish this horrid piece of plastic fast, then I will burn this thing to the ground. I mean it, I will even post pictures of this thing burning. I would not even consider breaking it down and giving it away as parts, or even just giving this car away itself. I would not, could not wish to inflict the horrific entity the lies within this mold of plastic. I have never hated a piece of plastic more in my life than as I do this kit. I have another kit, and I think I will also burn it.
NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUILD THIS VERSION OF THE 66 NOVA
IT IS PURE EVIL - IT WILL BE FINISHED SOON - THEN I WILL DOUSE IT IN LIGHTER FLUID, SET IT ABLAZE TO BURN AND KILL IT COMPLETELY TO RID THE WORLD FROM THIS PLASTIC DEMON, KEEPING THIS HORRORIFIC MASS OF PURE EVIL FROM HUMANITY
Now that I feel better, I went and bought "Superfine" Microbrushes, to try and do a nice job on the window trim, etc. All I wish to do is get at least one side to look good. No matter what I did, I would drop, touch, slip, whatever in my painting. I can honestly say a 10 year old could have done better. Anyways, what I will do is dig out some old NASCAR contingency decals, and I will be plastering decals all over this dam car. Every place I am not happy with, every blemish, whatever, will be covered in a decal. Clear coat will be applied, car will hit final assembly. Use extra glue? Glue bomb it? Who cares, will just help this to burn hotter, assuring the EVIL of this kit will perish from this earth!!!

Believe me I know how you feel Tom. We've all been there if we have done much modeling at all. You know which ones usually do me that way? The ones I grab to build because I think they will be an easy build and then they turn out to be a model from hell. Never seems to fail. Endeavor to persevere. I still what you are doing with this looks good and I really like the flames.

After a cool down period of about 20 hours, my wife talked me into adding yet more flames. So I cut and laid a few out, touched up the silver / white as best I could, and installed the chrome / clear blue NASCAR spoiler and gave it a first clear coat. Will get one, or two more coats of clear yet, then it is onto final assembly......
